The food was pretty nice. I had a tartar, and we were generally quite satisfied.
However, the personnel didn’t seem to know their wines. I asked about the grape composition of one wine, and the waiter initially said it was Sauvignon Blanc mixed with something else. When I asked what the "something else" was, she had to go check. She came back saying it was actually 85% Carricante and 15% Sauvignon Blanc. Not very Sauvignon Blanc, right? :)
Then, I asked for a glass of Chianti, and they brought a bottle of Bordeaux. I pointed out that it wasn't Chianti but Bordeaux. They went away and came back to tell me there was no Chianti, so I should choose something else. I asked for a glass of Pinot Noir next, and then they brought a bottle of Chianti. They didn’t comment on it, so if I hadn’t checked the bottles, I would have ended up drinking a completely different wine from what I ordered.
I think it's important that waiters are trained to understand their wine list. Maybe not perfectly, but at least well enough to keep track of what they are bringing to customers and ensure it’s the right bottle.
Another thing about the service, and I don’t want to sound snobbish here, is that the way they talked to us was a little bit, how should I say it, village-y. It didn’t fit with the place itself. You know, the place is kinda stylish and not very cheap.
Overall, the atmosphere was quite nice. We really liked the interior, and a special compliment for the bathroom. In Cyprus, restaurants don’t pay enough attention to bathrooms, we think.
So, yeah, overall, the experience was pleasant, but the service wasn’t up to the...
Read moreVisited this restaurant with a friend from Mexico, and overall, it was a pleasant experience with a few notable highs and some room for improvement.
The atmosphere was inviting and enjoyable, and the customer service was excellent.
We ordered a variety of tacos, including pork, white fish, and octopus, all of which were delicious and flavorful. My friend, who is from Mexico, confirmed that the tacos were authentically prepared. As someone who prefers traditional Mexican cuisine over Tex-Mex, I was happy with the authenticity of the food in this regard.
However, I was a disappointed with the salmon ceviche, which was priced at 17 euros. It lacked authenticity, tasting more like sashimi with soy sauce rather than a true ceviche. While the quality of the ingredients was fine, it didn’t fit the flavor profile I was expecting for a ceviche dish.
We also ordered Micheladas, which were refreshing, but they weren’t served in the authentic way. Instead, we were given something more akin to an Ojo Rojo (a similar Mexican drink that mixes beer with tomato juice). A proper Michelada should have been served with the beer on the side.
While the food was delicious, the restaurant is on the over priced side, especially given the portion sizes. For instance, the 17 euros for the salmon ceviche felt excessive, and the portion sizes overall didn’t quite match the cost. Price...
Read moreThe place is undoubtedly well designed and cozy, nice details and colors, and attention to details. At entrance we felt odd, as the hosts couldn’t find our reservation, asked us lots of questions and made us wonder around the restaurant for a while until sitting us, on a smaller table, and making us feel honestly a bit weird. The service, although truly very kind (you can see the efforts of the staff and the smile), was just unprofessional; our waiter didn’t know about the food and drinks, nor how to open a wine, nor to serve it for tasting and lots of other important details that you would definitely expect in a place like this, and for this high prices. Food was mediocre. We just came back from a month in Mexico and I must say I did not find any Mexican taste in it, nor much taste in general.. but I’ll give the benefit of the doubt as we tried 6 dishes. Cocktails were basic and flat, both in the taste and presentation. The place literally just opened this week, so I’m truly hoping I’ll be back when things are settled and will be able to give a totally different review. Until then, I would only visit to...
