Martelli Pizza Italian Restaurant — Restaurant in Paphos Municipality

Nice restaurant, service a little rushed towards the end. Lovely place, however doesn't do much to cover the fact we are next to a main road unlike Phucket down the road (Amazing Chinese I recommend!) Food was pretty tasty and well priced! Was one of the early diners, they advertise when you dine between 18:00-19:30 you get 15% off everything?! Why not?!... However... When the evening went on and the place got busier they decided to start putting tables out on the outside of their restaurant to accommodate people and then the Big Boss decided to come out and start interfering asking people if they want menus etc and the system kind of went a but haywire, we didn't get the brunt of it as we was only approached by the Boss man as we wanted our bill. When the bill arrived it was quite clear to see the boss doesn't look to see who qualified with the 15% off, it wasn't such a big deal as it was a difference of €7 so we went with it. When we came to pay with a card we was asked outright if we want to put a tip (gratuity) on the bill, we normally tip in cash so we said no, this is when the waiter became quite huffy and puffy and said okay so I told him if he could take the 15% discount off our bill and process the payment with a €7 tip (which was the difference with the discount) then he could have a tip to which he replied saying we should of told him sooner. May be in the right or wrong but most till systems work gratuities the same way and if the 15% was applied to our bill the missing €7 could be accounted for as a tip. I think in the heat of the rush he had his boss screwing things over he released his frustration on the customer. Not professional but a reminder that higher management shouldn't interfere with a smoothly running service! All in all a great meal just let down with the bill process and...

This restaurant was good in regards of food and its quality , the portions are big and it is tasty but we had a misunderstanding regarding our order, we got something we didn’t order, and when I complained, the waitress told me that I have ordered what they served, she came back with what she wrote on the paper and showed me that “I was wrong” even when my family knew that I wasn’t and I didn’t asked to see what she wrote before putting the order. At the end they brought what I initially ordered , but I really didn’t enjoy being there anymore although the food was tasty. The waitress kept on coming and asking how the food was and if all was ok, thing that normally would be a good gesture, but in this case I just wanted to finish my food and leave. When we asked for the bill, she came and asked if we can give her a tip, we end up giving it to her, but honestly, I think that a tip is at the guest’s discretion and should not be asked for. Me and my partner ate here on the last night of our trip and had an excellent experience. The food tasted fantastic and fresh & the service was excellent. Service was quick and friendly, food portions were big while not sacrificing on the quality. We had a starter and a main each, a bottle of wine and a water and it came to 63 Euros which given the quality and size of the food felt really good value for money. Service is what made this experience really good for me, staff are friendly, helpful and will go out their way to ensure you have a nice experience. Spiros who is the director here takes huge pride in the restaurant and came over to have a friendly chat at the end of our meal and offered us an Ouzo.
