went to cliff social for the first time on Sunday with friends (who had been before and rated it high) greeted and served almost straight away. Venue was modern clean and open. ordered our drinks. I asked if they had elderflower tonic, to which the waiter replied is it the same as Indian tonic, we went back and forth a few times, he said we donât have it, and I asked him to pls check and let me know. In the meantime he goes off to the bar and my friend is not convinced as they have a huge gin bar selection and other items on the menu with elderflower in them. So we go to the bar ourselves a little more deliberating and explaining, we established some elderflower cordial, which we was then able to have with plain tonic. When we ordered our food I asked for beef cheek as listed on the menu, the waiter said we donât have that but I can recommend : and proceeds to point at beef cheek on the menu, to which I said thatâs what I just asked for and you said itâs out of stock. So he took that as my order, he. Comes back few mins later stating we donât have that, so I asked for the menu again to decide. Itâs little things like these that drops the level of service. The waiter who took our drinks order and food order was the same person, now although he made some mistakes, and wasnât fantastic, we put it down to maybe he was new, maybe his first day, maybe still training, who knew but we gave him a chance. We waited over an hour since placing our food order. A table who arrived after us were served before us, so we asked a member of staff how long, we were told not long now without even going to kitchen to check. Then the blonde female waitress come over and asks whatâs up to which we explained weâve been waiting more than an hour, she went to kitchen and came back and advised they were doing ours at the time, then another table who arrived after us also got served so this point I was like they arrived after us, she explained because we ordered pork chops (1 item) that this takes 40 mins, thereâs no way on earth a pork chop takes 40 mins to cook, regardless I said food should be done by ticket order, so they arrived after us there ticket should be after ours. The waitress was rude, not even apologetic. another minus for service. Our table wasnât set and laid, I sat back and watched as a waiter laid napkins cutlery and condiments to a table as soon as they arrived, we had to ask for all of ours, even when food arrived we had to ask for things that should just be standard service. bread rolls arrived warm and with mutlak which was a bonus. the food started coming out, the guys had gulbasi which they both said was really tender and nice. We had a kids chicken sticks which was a huge portion. In fact all the meals were generous portions. My daughter had the chicken burger which she enjoyed very filling comes with two burger patties. So the kids chicken lolli pop is basically the same as the chicken burger but dissected, so can get same thing fraction of the cost just order a kids meal. My friend had the pork chop which she enjoyed yet another huge portion. I ordered the goats cheese salad: was nicely presented big portion but could have done with some dressing. And I got the lamb chops which were dry and really chewy not a lot of meat of them mostly fatty I was struggling to get the meat off. I had two and gave up, Nobody came to check how the food was. No body came to see if we wanted any more drinks. So for the almost 3 hours we were there we had 1 drink each. It was such a disappointing experience as we had high hopes, even my friend said the service was awful this time. When youâre sat waiting for food and the chef pops outside to have a cigarette. When the staff are rude and not apologetic about the service or the delay. Or even to check why the food was left to rectify any mistakes. On the plus side though, as we were getting ready to leave Kristy popped up with her beaming smile, always happy to help, I met her before when she worked in a different establishment and it was nice to see a friendly face after a...
Read moreThis morning, my wife and I decided to begin our day with breakfast at Cliff Social Café in Paphos, having heard much about its serene ambiance and delightful cuisine. We arrived a tad early, around 9:28 am, filled with anticipation for a tranquil start to our day. However, what we encountered instead was a deeply unsettling scene that left us disheartened.
Upon our early arrival, we witnessed an incident involving the café's management that mars the reputation of this establishment in our eyes. A manager, a young man in his 30s, was seen publicly berating a support staff member, also in his 30s but of African descent. The altercation was not only shocking but also completely inappropriate, especially in a setting that prides itself on being a welcoming space for guests.
Confronting the manager about his blatant disregard for basic respect and workplace ethics, I had hoped for some semblance of regret or an explanation. Regrettably, the manager chose to escalate the situation further, redirecting blame onto the staff member without taking any responsibility for his actions in front of guests. Hospitality is not merely about the food and environment but profoundly about the respect and dignity shared amongst everyone in the establishmentâstaff and customers alike. Witnessing such an egregious display of disrespect was not only disappointing but also overshadowing the quality of our visit.
I am compelled to voice this unfortunate event publicly, with the hope that Cliff Social Café will recognize the gravity of this incident. A public apology and a genuine acknowledgment of the manager's behavior would be a step in the right direction towards amending this grievance. Additionally, it would demonstrate the café's commitment to uphold the values of respect and dignity within its team, thereby restoring confidence in its patrons. An institution's greatness is measured not only by the service it provides but also by the kindness and respect it fosters within its walls. We hope that Cliff Social Café addresses this incident promptly and takes the necessary steps to ensure that such behavior is unequivocally condemned and rectified, thus true to the positive experiences and ambiance it seeks to provide.
Your patrons deserve not only the delightful meals and the serene ambiance but also the assurance that they are supporting an establishment that values ethical treatment and professionalism...
Read moreCliff Social offers a beautiful location with charming outdoor decor, and the service provided was excellent. However, our experience was a mix of hits and misses.
The starters we ordered, including the mozzarella sticks and Sea Bass Ceviche, were delightful. The Sea Bass Ceviche stood out, and we highly recommend it. However, the nachos could have been improved by adding salsa and having the toppings served separately instead of being poured onto the nachos.
Unfortunately, our dinner at Cliff Social was disappointing. The vegan mountain burger and Louiza Prawns Tagliatelles lacked flavour and failed to impress. We would not recommend ordering these dishes.
It's worth noting that the evening can get windy, and the absence of heaters was a noticeable downside. Providing heaters would greatly enhance the comfort of guests dining in the outdoor area. We also asked if they did anything special for the anniversary, like a special dessert with writing, and they said no.
In summary, while Cliff Social offers a visually pleasing location and commendable service, the experience was a mix of highs and lows. The starters, particularly the Sea Bass Ceviche, were enjoyable, but the main dishes left much to be desired. Considering the lack of flavour and disappointing dinner options, it may be wise to explore other dining establishments in the area. Additionally, the inclusion of heaters would greatly enhance the overall dining experience, particularly during...
