DON CARLO Italian Restaurant — Restaurant in Paphos Municipality

Last night, we visited Don Carlo. The place itself was very beautiful, and the food presentation was equally lovely. However, our overall experience was a bit mixed, mainly due to the taste of the food.

We started off with a delightful treat of prosecco and eggplant, which was really tasty and appreciated. As we ordered our food, we initially asked for the eggplant from the starters, but then decided on the calamari salad instead. Unfortunately, both dishes were brought to our table, and despite explaining the mix-up, our waitress claimed we never mentioned the switch. We decided to keep both dishes anyway.

The eggplant starter was okay - nothing bad about it, but it also didn't stand out in any special way. The calamari salad, on the other hand, was the highlight of our meal. It was a simple dish, but the calamari was fried perfectly and had a nice spicy kick that paired well with the salad.

The risotto with scallops we ordered next was not to our liking. The scallops were slightly over-salted, while the rice needed more seasoning. It just didn't taste right, and we ended up leaving some of it.

Finally, we tried the truffle madness pizza. It looked good but, unfortunately, didn't impress us in terms of flavor. For a restaurant with higher prices, we expected the food to be as tasty as it looked.

The staff was generally ok, but they tended to check on us a bit too often, possibly because we were the only customers at that time. For a restaurant with such prices, you expect better service.

In summary, while Don Carlo has a beautiful ambiance, we were a bit disappointed with the overall taste. When dining at a restaurant with such prices, you expect to enjoy every dish. We felt that it promises to be something that it is not, and so we will not be...

The restaurant has been beautifully decorated, has high-quality furniture, and is stylish throughout. The dining areas are stunning. The staff here are very attentive and friendly. It is so lovely to be asked if we would like to take a break in between courses, a simple touch that was valued by our table. The food was incredible! Beautifully presented and has amazing tastes. It was such a treat to dine here and we can only say such amazing things about our evening here. You will receive a very warm welcome here by the staff and they really do want you to have a wonderful dining experience. The outside dining area looked incredible and also the private dining room downstairs. The washrooms were stunning and again the little touches of having individual hand towels in a restaurant washroom make this venue stand out from the others. They really are focused on a 5* star experience. A good sign of a fabulous evening with friends is when you leave a restaurant all smiling and all said 'what a lovely place this is and what a special evening that was'. Keep up what you are doing! My dining experience was superb! Portions were just right, fresh ingredients and you could really taste that! Everything from the main course, we have the prawn pasta, to the dessert (highly recommend the tiramisu) was made with so much care.

The exterior and also the interior are a 10/10. There is so much character and atmosphere to the place. We can see how much time and thought went into designing the restaurant.

I would like to shoutout Alex and Katerina who took excellent care of my friend and I whilst dining there. Very cheerful, pleasant and made sure everything was just right.

A big thank to Mr Louis (the owner of the restaurant) for giving us a tour of the facilities and making us feel extra special. If you’re a wine lover like myself he will definitely have the perfect wine selection for you. He is truly doing an amazing job!

I highly recommend you go and dine at Don Carlo Italian Restaurant, it would be a definite shame not to.
