This is by far the best restaurant in Paphos (and I would say the best restaurant in Cyprus, based on my experience during the 15 days I got across the island).
The first time I went there was on a Saturday evening, without a reservation, at dinner time. I would had expected a big NO from them. Instead, they found a solution and kindly offered me a high table, always with a smile. I had very tasty dishes (baby aubergines and prawns with spring onions), while I enjoyed the great atmosphere. The staff was very friendly, and dishes arrived at the perfect timing (not too fast, not too slow... this is how I measure professionalism). I was recommended to have orange pie for dessert... and it was simply sublime (it even makes my mouth watering now!). The weather was fantastic and tables were outside, but the interior of the restaurant was also beautifully decorated. The music was very chill and relaxing.
The second time I had dinner there was two days later. The staff still remembered me (I went again without making a reservation... didn't expect everything fully booked on a Monday!). Once again, they did their magic and I got a table for myself within seconds. This time I ordered the roasted carrots with yoghurt, the "orzotto" with truffle oil and ultra-thin sliced mushrooms, the halloumi with honey (Greek recipe)... and I got another piece of orange pie thanks to Θεοδόσης (I hope I wrote it correctly)
Thank you Koutourou Ouzeri for this magnificent experience to enjoy all...
Read moreate here on my last evening in cyprus and was pleasantly gifted with a very tasty farewell feast. there's choices for vegans, vegetarians as well as meat eaters. it's an ouzeri and all the small dishes are thought to be shared, we like this ! basically ordered all veggie meze and my friend made me indulge in much more cheese than i normally would - was a lil heavy, but veery yummy. wine was good, sesame bread was soft, olives were great quality and mushrooms were so delicate. the honey baked halloumi with its flavorful crust is very much recommended ! i read on the news that cyprus is currently sitting on a 6 million kg stockpile of halloumi cheese cause there's been less exports due to the covid-19 pandemic, so you better get at it !!
the kitchen is open and you can have a peak onto the steams of deliciousness crafted there by the chefs. lots of attention was paid to the vintage style decoration. there's a wall of mirrors and you'll find a puppet, many typewriters, a map of cyprus, a tv and many more details placed in different corners of the restaurant. even a bike and a suitcase hanging from the ceiling ! the old coca cola ads and decors are a bit unsettling, i wonder why they would want to bring in the vibe of big capitalist companies into this wonderfully authentic local restaurant.
hope to come back one day to try the...
Read moreVery rude and un-professional. I called few days before to make a reservation and they told me they have 2 servings: 18:30 - 20:45 and after 9:30 pm. So i took the 9:30. But as i was in the neighborhood i went there around 8:15 pm maybe i could find a table. There were 3-4 free tables outside. I asked them if they have a table for 3, they asked me if I have a reservation. I said i did, for 9:30 but came earlier and i see there’s few tables free. The owner said they are “reserved”. So I asked - if they were reserved for 6:30 and it’s 20:15 it means they’re “done” and ready for 9:30 reservations. He said no no, they are still reserved. So i asked him if there were other hours to reserve because i was presented only 2 options. If i knew i could reserve at 6:30 and come at 8 I would have done. The guy offered me a table inside (looks like a cheap kebab place inside unfortunately). I said will ask my wife. Meanwhile a table of 4 was freed up. So clearly the 6:30 pm service was done. So my wife went back to ask if we could take the table. So owner explained in a very superior and ironic manner that it is very simple - he has bookings only 6:30 or 9:30 and nothing in between….(now with 5 free tables). With this kind of “hospitality” we said we got the picture and left. It does not matter how good your food is if you treat...
