Folio Restaurant — Restaurant in Paralimni

I recently visited Folio Restaurant in Protaras after seeing it featured on many influencer stories and posts praising its quality.

Parking was easy, as the restaurant is located at the end of a central road in Protaras. I went specifically for sushi and paid €75 for one starter and a sushi platter. For that price, the value felt a bit average.

There are several details around the space that show some lack of attention. For example, the restroom was not clean and had an unpleasant smell. Each table had an old-fashioned white tablecloth that reminded me of a hotel buffet, while at the same time there were modern elements like stylish table lamps. Even the table legs seemed mismatched. These design contrasts gave me the impression that two different people might be in charge of the concept, and they don’t quite agree on the style. On a positive note, their electronic reservation system is very convenient and easy to use. Now, for the overall experience: The host was lovely and polite, warm, and welcoming, with a big smile. However, the rest of the service was around 3/5. After we were seated, we waited quite a while to place our order, and the staff didn't pay much attention to us or to the surrounding tables.The fish was fresh and of good quality, but the dishes felt quite basic. For example, the shrimp tempura and salmon avocado rolls didn’t offer any standout flavor combinations, nothing that made me say “wow.” I believe this place could easily be a 5/5 with more attentive service. A simple gesture like checking in to see if we enjoyed the meal or needed anything else would have made a big difference. The restaurant is located at the end of the coastal road in Protaras and has a beautiful, spacious outdoor area. The lady handling the reservations was very polite and helpful. Although the restaurant was full, the atmosphere remained calm and pleasant.

The menu offers a wide variety of options to suit all dietary preferences, which is definitely a plus. As a starter, we were offered warm homemade bread and a pumpkin soup, which was absolutely delicious. For our main dishes, we ordered the tuna poke bowl, stuffed chicken, and some sushi – everything was extremely tasty and made with high-quality ingredients. The prices were also very reasonable for the quality of the food. We were served by a gentleman who was very kind and attentive.

However, there were a couple of negatives that stood out. When we first sat at our table, we waited for at least 10 minutes before anyone came over to bring us menus. Additionally, during our visit, there was a photographer taking pictures of some dishes. At one point, a dish was served to the table behind us, and the photographer wanted to capture a photo of it. Apparently, I was in his shot, and he signaled me to move my head. I found this quite rude – I don’t think it's appropriate for guests to be disturbed because someone needs to photograph food.

Overall, it’s a very good restaurant with delicious food, and it's definitely worth a visit. With a bit more attention to customer service and consideration during in-house photography, the experience could be...

This would be a 5 star for the food the best sushi I have ever eaten. Very friendly staff and i think Manager shaking hands etc even with my kids was a lovely touch. Service started off great had about 3 different staff members tending to our needs which i ls a little greedy but as it got busier it went to none existent. We finished our food just before 8pm we had specifically gone to the restaurant for the sushi and the desserts as they looked and sounded amazing. By 8.30 no one had still come over to ask if we wanted dessert, they was very overstretched a few large tables but noticed a couple of guys stood at tables of regulars for at least 5 minutes talking and hugging which is great service for them but not for us still wanting to order dessert, waited about 5 mins then asked for bill as was getting laye and my kidsnwere getting fed up, then this man we asked for bill from went off talking to another table for 10 min maybe? No bill brought was then 9pm 30 min after asking for bill and 1 hours after finishing our main course and i asked the manager he was very nice and apologetic.
