Red Indian Restaurant — Restaurant in Paralimni

My husband and I wanted to enjoy a pork chop dinner. He ordered us a joint meal of pork chops, a prawns cocktail to start, and Coke Zero. As soon as the starter arrived, it looked less inviting than we thought, so we put it aside (we weren't hungry anyway and came for the pork ribs). We didn't complain, we didn't call any waiters, we just continued to enjoy our evening.

One of the waiters saw that we didn't eat the dish and asked if everything was okay. My husband said that we liked it less but that's okay and there's no need to change it. The waiter insisted on taking back the dish and said that they would come to us in a moment.

What happened next we never saw coming.

We were approached by someone who claimed to be the owner of the restaurant, said that he has been preparing this dish for 32 years and that he does not intend to change anything about it now. He told us that the drink we ordered was on the house and that we should leave the place. We were very confused and didn't understand what was going on. When we tried to explain that we didn't complain and didn't ask for our dish to be changed, he started screaming, became very aggressive, took our cutlery in his hands, and even pushed my husband down the stairs at the entrance to the restaurant. I was afraid he would try to use the knife against my husband.

When we tried to talk to the waiter who took the dish from us, he looked at us scared. The whole restaurant was confused but it seemed to be something that happens often as the waiters and staff seemed helpless.

Since we are tourists, we did not go to the police because it is a waste of our time, but nowhere should people be...

I just saw one of the worst, abusive and unfair situations at the back on this restaurant. The manager or something like (a guy with black rat tail hair) was yelling at one of the guys who works there. I could hear him much before I got to my car, he was yelling really bad… his disgusting words, cursing the poor guy who was just totally afraid, I could see him shaking of fear; I never EVER in my life saw something so humiliating! I never saw a manager treating an employee in that abusive way. I worked in restaurants when I was young and despite the stress and the tense environment I have ever had such disgusting way. That manager or whoever is him needs to be removed! I definitely cannot go and support a business where the employees are treated like slaves or even worse. I WILL MAKE SURE THAT A LOT, A LOT OF PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT THIS AND NEVER EVER GO TO THIS RESTAURANT! And I hope the employees know their rights because this situations are not allowed at all from the business! Waited 15 mins for someone to take our drinks order, then another 20 mins or so for someone to come and take our food order. We waited almost an hour in total for food to be brought out and it definitely wasn't worth the wait. The waiter did apologise to us for the wait but only 5 mins before it came out. We had to ask for extra drinks, after sitting with empty glasses for what felt like forever and no point did anyone come to check everything was ok with our food. We had Tacos which should have been crispy but were stale and chewy, mixed meat chimichanga with hardly any chicken and enchiladas which were bland and mostly onions. We had ordered off the main menu, rather than the set menus. I can see that people would find the set menus to be good value but I don't think we'll be rushing back...
