Lumbini-Indická a Nepálská Restaurace — Restaurant in Prague

It used to be my favorite Indian restaurant, but something happened in the first half of 2024 that everything started to plummet downward. There are some small good changes in the atmosphere of the place that are noticeable, but they are far from doing justice to the other changes. A price increase is relatively normal, but adding a price increase to a radical drop in the quality of the food is a very bad combination. The buffet for example, has mostly bones, when it used to have meat pieces, vegetarian food, went from being expetionally good to especially bad. Maybe it was a change of management or a change of cook or both, but the change is brutally evident, and a sadly bad change.

After seeing Lumbini’s advertisements few times on Facebook for Nepali new year, three of us went for dinner opting for their advertised special thali of the day, after making a reservation.

First surprise was, the thali composition was reduced. Even in the changed dishes, few things were not given for which I had to remind the server to get those. At the end, we left after some nice new year music. Part of thali was sweet, which was not served to us. When I asked about it while paying, was told that they forgot to serve us :) no effort was made to offer it there. When you pay a fixed price for a fixed menu, the restaurant is supposed to make the effort to serve you that fixed menu.

Overall, very disappointing experience with their food and planning. Will not...

Lumbini in Žižkov has become my go-to spot for delicious Indian cuisine! Every visit has been a treat for my taste buds, and I keep coming back for more.

I was so busy enjoying the food that I forgot to take pictures of most dishes, but that just shows how good they were! I did manage to snap a few pics of my beer and the Everest Soup, though.
