This review is not about the quality of the food, which I found amazing! It's more about the service and the feeling of being scamed by one of the waiters. In particular one named Ondrej. We ordered the ravioli (amazing) and the prawns salad from the starters, our waiter Ondrej recommended to take the main dish, the tiger prawns which is bigger and way more expensive. We kindly said no, because we were thinking about eating a delicious dessert after that. We explicitly said the starter. When we ordered the drinks I asked for the home made lemonade (you can see in the menu that is around 75 crowns) and again dear Ondrej said if I wanted the citrus lemonade and I said no, I wanted the homemade one. I just want to clarify that this was not a language mistake. The menu is written in English and I showed him exactly the drink that I was ordering. Time later Ondrej arrived with our drinks. A really nice lemonade (but how do you expect me to know how my lemonade is supposed to look like). And soon enough we got our food. Amazing, the taste and texture, awesome chef. But, we were surprised that the starter was actually quite big, again, how do you expect us to know how our food is supposed to look like. After we paid (and this was our mistake), we noticed that he actually got the main dish "tiger prawns" and the citrus lemonade, funny, because it was exactly both of the things he asked twice and we showed him from the menu what we wanted. When we asked him about it, he looked confused and asked if the quality was OK... Of course it was OK, it was great, but it's not what I ordered!!!!! Honestly, this feel like a scam, and I will make sure to share this review in social media and with my friends in Prague, or at least I'll make sure next time I get a different waiter. Such a bad experience in such a...
Read moreUnique tower with stunning panoramic views The Žižkov Television Tower is a polarizing landmark in Prague. Its Brutalist architecture stands out dramatically against the city's historic skyline. Some find it unattractive, while others appreciate its unique character. Regardless of your taste in architecture, the tower offers the most comprehensive vista of Prague.
Highlights:
Breathtaking panoramic views: The observation deck provides a 360-degree view of Prague, encompassing all its major landmarks.
Controversial art installation: The tower is adorned with sculptures of giant babies crawling up its side by artist David Černý. These sculptures are a conversation starter, to say the least.
Modern amenities: The observation deck has recently undergone renovations and offers a comfortable space to enjoy the view.
Things to consider:
Ticket price: Entry to the observation deck can be a bit pricey, especially considering there's not much else to do besides taking in the view. But if you have a reservation for the restaurant entry is free.
Distance from city center: The tower is located outside the city center, so factor in travel time if you're staying there. It is about £5 by Uber from the centre of town.
The restaurant has been newly renovated: As of June 2024, the restaurant at the top of the tower has had a full renovation, so a great location for a fancy meal with a view.
Overall:
The Žižkov Television Tower is a must-visit for anyone who wants to see Prague from a different perspective. The views are unbeatable, and the tower itself is an interesting piece of architecture. However, be aware of the ticket price and potential limitations...
