Hooked — Restaurant in Copenhagen Municipality

We had been looking forward to visiting your restaurant for six months. We flew all the way from the Czech Republic because of your food. I was telling my wife how amazing your cooking is, as I often cook in Michelin-starred restaurants in Copenhagen. But I have to say, it was a huge disappointment.

Your reservation system offers a booking at 8:45 PM, and when we arrived, the waiter immediately told us to order because the kitchen was closing. So we ordered tuna tacos, lobster roll, fried shrimp, and fish and chips. The first three we wanted as starters and the fish as the main course. That wasn’t possible because the kitchen was closing. So the waiter brought everything at once.

The shrimp and fish and chips were completely overcooked, and when I mentioned it to the staff, they just said, “Sorry, it’s 9:00 PM, the oil is usually overused by now!” But I’m paying the same as any other guest; it shouldn’t matter what time I come! I can still taste the burnt oil in my mouth.

We ordered sparkling water and wine. They didn’t have it, so we ordered something else. That wasn’t available either, so we tried a third option, which finally worked. The waiter brought the wine without water. We waited another ten minutes before I had to remind him at the bar, and he said he would bring it immediately. I normally enjoy going to this restaurant and in general I find the food superb. However last night we had a disappointing experience. We waited quite long to get our order taken, but fair enough it was pretty full when we arrived (19:30). After we finished the meal, I was supposed to get churros and cream but it took a long time for the waitress to acknowledge this and bring the dessert out-I guess it was more important to set up the empty tables in the rest of the restaurant. When she finally did, the churros were undercooked, the inside was like a paste which I showed to another waiter. Apparently the kitchen was closed at that point (less then 5 min after serving this) so they offered to bring me only ice cream which I don’t think is a comparable solution to me paying for the full price. We stayed at a rental in Carlsberg Byen and most of the restaurants close early in that area and found this place that was opened a bit later and in walking distance. If you are from the US and from the East Coast, just set your expectation low if you are going to order lobster roll since this is not going to be the same. Doused in too much mayo and fried onion ring on top?? Don't ruin the lobster taste with the dressing lol!
