There are so many good restaurants in Copenhagen, so why eat at Nørrebro Bryghus? The beer is still good, although Nørrebro Bryghus is not the frontrunner it was 20 years ago with surprisingly few changes through the years. Even on busy days the place has an ambience reminiscent of a library (the place is huge).
Last time we visited (December 2022), the menu was limited and with very few vegetarian options. The food was ordinary and not particularly good value. Maybe except the almonds and olives where we got awkwardly large portions. The fries were dry af (think dehydrated apple slices), and most dishes lacked acidity and balance.
For a place that prides itself in its beer, it's downright weird that a) you need to scan a QR code like it's 2016 just to see their selection of beers (which simply takes you to their website with a difficult-to-read menu) or order at the bar, and b) you can choose between 35/60cl for 70/100 kr.
Judging by the other guests, my theory is that Nørrebro Bryghus is not competing with other restaurants on Nørrebro but rather restaurants in cities and villages all around Sealand. I suspect people aged 40-60 travel to Nørrebro Bryghus get "a proper gastropub experience" in Copenhagen. That's the only way I can explain how this place still can exist as a restaurant in an otherwise fiercely competitive market. I don't believe many locals go here anymore. Maybe the occasional visit when all other beer places in the neighborhood are packed.

Read moreIt has indeed been a very long time since I have been so bitterly disappointed by a restaurant. I made the mistake of having a steak. What I got served was a chewy disappointment. No taste, no flavour, just strenuous over stimulation of my jaw!! And yes that is spit out "steak" in the picture, there's only this much a human being can ensure. The size of the portion was as well was laughable. My girlfriend made also a mistake in ordering the gnocchi...4 gnocchis to be more precise as it was trivial to count them on the plate served with much pride by our waiters. The gnochi were soft and miserable just as our experience in this disappointing place. On the plate were also 2 spring onions just for decor I presume since the taste did not compliment anything else in this dish. The beer was good but not great and for 65 DKK i cannot justify the price. So what do I think of Nørrebros Bryghus? It's a tourist trap that for 530 DKK Will serve you an amazing machine to exercise your jaw muscles and make you look and scavenge for food on your table. Stay away my dear fellow, listen to your friendly local guide. CPH has so much more to offer than this nicely...
Read moreHad a very good time, real nice food, lovely staff. Ordered the 7 course menus, vegan and non-vegan. Both excellent for a really good price. The portions aren't huge, but you will feel satisfied after the full menu. It's more of a fine dining experience than the fast casual experience you might expect at a brewery. Staff served us in excellent English, and was super friendly. We chose the beer pairing with our menus but the glasses were somewhat big compared to the sizes of the dishes. That could be a good thing but the pairing got misaligned, and we ended up with full glasses after our dessert. This was no big deal as we're big fans of craft beer, but it could devaluate the intended balance between the dishes and served beers. Nonetheless, the beers and the beer cocktail were absolutely great and the staff was eager to make accomodations to our liking. In short, we've had a great time, great value for money. Food was surprisingly good with interesting...
