I had dinner at Scarpetta with my colleagues, and unfortunately it was a rather disappointing experience. We went for the three-course dinner where you can choose your own dishes. I started with the risotto balls, which sounded lovely as I really enjoy risotto and the idea of it in a deep-fried form was very appealing. Sadly, they were quite bland and lacked flavour. They were alright, but nothing memorable.
For the main course, I ordered a pizza and swapped half with a colleague so we could try two varieties. Both turned out to be extremely dry — not the pleasant kind of crispy, but more like cardboard. They crumbled apart and had very little flavour. It was honestly one of the worst pizzas I’ve ever had, and trying both confirmed it wasn’t just bad luck with one variety.
Dessert was a lemon cake. The top layer was light and fluffy, which I ate, but the bottom crust was cold and, likely from being stored in the fridge. It didn’t taste fresh. We also ordered pitchers of drinks, which, like most of the food, were just okay. Nothing stood out, and everything lacked flavour and character.
The atmosphere is nice and the interior is well-designed, but the tables are very small. We were seven people at our table, and there wasn’t much space for our plates or dishes, which made it a...
Read moreThe restaurant specifically advertised that all pizzas can be delivered gluten-free. When we booked, we specifically mentioned one of our party had gluten intolerance, and had a lengthy conversation about the options, which sounded fine. We arrive, get seated, and then sometime around when the antipasta was served, get told that the kitchen cannot do gluten-free today. Whether that is just atrocious service, or outright bait and switch, on part of the restaurant, I can't say but I think it is an absolutely unacceptable way to treat paying guests. It is not like we can easily walk out and find a replacement place, when we are 11 people that are already seated. To me, it feels that since Covid, the service industry is really treating their customers like milkable money bags. I feel sorry for the young waiter, who tried to do what he could, so credit to him. Also nothing wrong with the other...
Read moreWe stopped by the restaurant for a spontaneous weekday dinner. The place was nearly empty, and the staff didn’t seem particularly busy. Despite that, our waiter was surprisingly inattentive and didn’t show much of a service-minded attitude. For instance, we weren’t even asked if we wanted to buy water—despite it being priced at 60 DKK for two people.
To make matters worse, while we were still eating, the waiter began preparing the tables right next to us for the next day, spraying them with a strong-smelling cleaner. The harsh chemical smell completely ruined the experience of what was otherwise a decent pizza and pasta. You’d think he could have waited 10 minutes or at least started his cleaning on the other side of the nearly...
