My experience at Copenhagen Island Hotel left me thoroughly disappointed and frustrated. From the moment we stepped through the front door, it was evident that the hotel suffered from improper maintenance and untrained staff. The absence of a doorman or bell captain was immediately noticeable, and it was particularly frustrating when I arrived with my family and nine large suitcases. Seeking assistance with the luggage, I approached the Filipino receptionist to inquire about help from the taxi, a service that most decent hotels provide. However, the receptionist dismissed my request and simply pointed at the luggage trolleys near the entrance, leaving me to fend for myself. This lack of courtesy and consideration set a disappointing tone from the start.

Thankfully, our check-in experience was slightly redeemed by a Moroccan receptionist who kindly upgraded one of our rooms for free. His gesture was appreciated and added a glimmer of positivity to an otherwise frustrating arrival.

However, any positivity quickly faded when we entered the rooms. One of the rooms had an AC unit that consistently blew out hot air. I reached out to request maintenance assistance not once, not twice, but three times, only to be met with no resolution. Furthermore, a critical safety flaw in the rooms became alarmingly evident: the balconies/windows opened from floor to ceiling with no safety locks to secure them. The lack of proper barriers between the room floor and the potential danger of falling from the building was concerning, and the hotel's makeshift solution of duct-taping the balcony shut for my child's room was both unsettling and inadequate. The flimsy glass used as a barrier was worrisome, especially considering it had a significant opening at the bottom, making it possible for a toddler's limb to fit through—a situation that was nothing short of horrifying.

Housekeeping proved to be another issue at this hotel. The staff lacked proper training and attention to detail, resulting in inconsistent cleaning services. There were times when cleaning was inexplicably skipped, and it took four days for them to replace our bed sheets stained with chocolate.

To compound the already disappointing experience, the hotel was plagued by a spider infestation. We encountered spiders in our room daily, and even the entrance of the hotel was covered in cobwebs—an incredibly unpleasant sight that spoke to the hotel's overall neglect.

Regrettably, I cannot find any positive aspects to highlight about my stay at Copenhagen Island Hotel. Having endured a ten-night stay here, I am compelled to dissuade others from considering it as an option. I will not be booking this hotel again and firmly believe that there are undoubtedly better and more suitable...

We had a very enjoyable stay at the hotel and would highly recommend it to others. However there were a couple of issues as well. ||Positives |Our harbour overlooking superior double room was lovely with a spectacular harbour view, the bed was very comfortable, air conditioning was good, bathroom was spotlessly clean and in very good condition as well. |Breakfast was very good with a great spread and lots of choices. Was pleased that the orange juice was fresh. The female service staff at breakfast were friendly and provided an efficient service with clearing away dirty plates and glasses promptly. |We had an early dinner in the restaurant before leaving for the airport and that was a great experience, with a lovely view of the harbour, food was good and the male staff member Chihheb was friendly and attentive. |Location of the hotel is excellent. We had lovely walks along the harbour side and the location is very convenient for walking around the city centre. Restaurants, bars, Nyhavn, Tivoli Gardens, etc were all with walking distance from the hotel. |Overall we had a fantastic stay||Negatives |Our flight was delayed and we arrived past midnight at the hotel. Our room key cards did not work and we were also unable to use the elevator. The male receptionist accompanied us to our room on the 4th floor and we had to wait till the morning to get workable key cards. He did not ask us about housekeeping the next day (which is on request) we only saw the notice in our room, tried ringing him and there was no reply. We had to convince the other receptionist the next morning that we needed housekeeping and why we couldn’t book it the previous night before 10 pm.|Our worst experience was with the airport taxi. Had a bad experience on the way in so booked via hotel on way back. A male receptionist told us the fixed rate was DKK336 and this rate was also re-confirmed by the hotel before we left. The taxi driver insisted it was DKK383 and said the hotel was wrong. Also charged us an extra DKK10 claiming it was card charges which was false. Beware of taxi drivers. If you opt for the fixed fare they take you on a short 10 min route and on the way in we paid by the meter and the journey was much longer. ||Overall we had a fabulous stay and will...

Copenhagen Island Hotel enjoys a truly stunning location. It is positioned right on the water, with sweeping views and easy access to transit, shopping, sights, and the charm of the harborfront. The design is sleek and modern, and it is clear the property once aspired to offer a premium experience. That promise, unfortunately, is not being lived up to. Despite the ideal setting, our stay was overshadowed by a combination of poor communication, evasive practices, and disregard for the guest experience.

The most significant issue was that the hotel did not honor the original Expedia booking made 2.5 months in advance, downgrading us to a smaller room with fewer beds than reserved, while simultaneously charging an additional $180 CAD to our credit card without any receipt, explanation, or prior notification. Repeated phone calls and emails went unanswered, and the front desk offered no clarity or solutions. Ultimately, it was only after opening a case through Expedia that we were issued a refund, still with no direct acknowledgment from the hotel. While mistakes are always possible, it was this specific lack of transparency that (in this day and age of myriad solutions available for providing receipts and communication) felt less like an oversight and more like a business strategy that preys on the inconvenience and confusion of navigating foreign country's bureaucracy.

Beyond the financial mishandling, the hotel also placed us in a room facing loud daytime event on the harbourfront with blaring music, even though quieter rooms matching our original booking seemed to be available, making the downgrade feel not just careless, but pointed. The overall service vibe was more in line with a bare-bones hostel and offered a striking, almost comical constrast to the location and amenities themselves: passive-aggressive front desk interactions, indifference to guest comfort, and an overwhelming sense of weaponized incompetence. Saddest part is that the city and location are beautiful! And with better management, this hotel could truly shine as a spectacular venue. Instead, the main memory we are left with is a cautionary reminder. This impression is disappointing, unwelcoming and ultimately discouraging of...

My husband and I were in Denmark for the first time and had to travel to Jyderup. We decided to stay in Copenhagen for two days just to make the trip worth while and hopefully see some of Copenhagen. We booked an Executive double room with a double bed which also had a balcony. The building is extremely large with an amazing breakfast/dinner area part of which is inside an atrium. It has amazing views of the canal. The hotel is expensive but I note that most of Denmark is. There are a few steps to navigate to get into the building but there is a lift that fits one person and your suitcase if you choose. Check in was easy despite how busy they were and service impeccable. Cleaning staff were amazing and we had a great lady servicing our room. She was more excited than we were when she greeted us. It was a great stay, comfortable roof and bed. It was extremely clean. Elevator was a bit tricky to use but we figured it out. There is a kettle and tea and coffee available. There is a fridge and air con which we didn't really need it. Wi fi did not drop out and when we left the building and came back, it reconnected itself. Plenty of power points and slippers and robes were provided. It is a luxurious hotel. Beneath us Danes were swimming in the canal which is set up like a pool. It was 23 each day but for us, a little cold. The winds were awful so sitting on the balcony was a bit rough but it didn't stop us. Just amazing views. Breakfast was amazing. More than enough choices. We also had dinner both nights which was great as well. Again, expensive. (Having booked through hotels.com, as a silver member, we had an exclusive 20% off food and beverage once per stay. In an expensive city such as Denmark, it was extremely handy. In order to understand the expense, a glass of wine and a shot glass of Jägermeister cost us $36 AUD. There is a mall and supermarket (Aldi) next door, great value buying your own snacks or drinks. Copenhagen is just too big to explore in two days. So much to see. It was about a 21 min walk to the city from the hotel. I would stay here again. Kudos to this hotel for its amazing service and attentive staff.

I was surprised to be greeted by a flight of stairs at the entrance to the hotel. There is a manual wheelchair lift if required. Other than that, this is a lovely hotel, comfortable and the right size for a few nights stay. Do note cleaning service is on demand and they will not clean your room if you do not arrange for a service the night before. What I like about this hotel it’s location to plentiful cafes, restaurants, the harbor, and beautiful walking paths. It is also next to the mall and across the road is Ikea. The Meatpacking District is a 15min walk away with plentiful restaurants and a couple of popular cafes. On the other side is Island Brygge a 20min walk away with plenty of cafes and food choices. There is a trick to get to Ikea and the Meatpacking district without having to climb a flight of stairs, which is to use the mall side entrance (via the foodcourt), by following the bicycle bridge. This hotel is away from the main city center and would require taking train or taxi there. Be sure to book the rooms with habour views.
