Despite the incredible reviews and reputation, the practically inedible food that The Sixteen Twelve serves is repulsing. The service at this café is good, and although the lady working at the counter messed up our order, she was very kind and apologized for messing up our order and gave us the correct item. In addition, this place is situated in a cool area of Copenhagen and the café itself has a decent, albeit cold, vibe. Before tasting the food, I would have given this place a modest four stars, however the same certainly couldn’t be said after I tried their repulsing Benedict and banana bread. The Benedict was drenched in a far too salty hollandaise sauce (by far the worst I’ve ever had) that tasted like rotten cheese, the bread was harder than a rock, and the egg thankfully tasted like nothing. The pork was dry and made me want to throw up with every bite. Although I didn’t personally try the banana bread, my dad almost spit his first bite out, describing it as a “fruit loaf smothered in cream cheese ice cream and dates.” I wanted to like this place, however it’s disgusting and I couldn’t recommend it to anyone. I don’t usually leave poor reviews, but I couldn’t in good conscience let another unsuspecting patron eat here.

Vacation time and fun review time! My wife and I stopped here for breakfast before flying to our next adventure in Berlin. I had the Shakshuka: Just enough spice for the morning. I would compare it to less than mild spicy. There is a hidden fried egg under all that delicious spice tomato sauce, goat cheese, dates, bell pepper, toasted hazelnut, and pomegranate. Not to forget the tasty sourdough bread to soak up the sauce! Just like all the restaurants we have visited in Copenhagen, an amazing combo of flavors this southern American boy didn't expect. My wife had the Benedict (vegetarian version): Flavor explosion with oyster mushrooms! This mushroom farmer appreciated the gourmet shrooms! She tried topping off a bite using some of the shakshuka sauce from plate, and once again, we were pleasantly surprised! Perhaps The Sixteen Twelve should consider serving a small bowl of the Shakshuka sauce as a side for the Benedict! Travelers tip: Go ahead and book a reservation here. It's small and can get busy real fast for breakfast/brunch. also, the staff were amazing helping us find a place for our suitcase and a seat. customer experience achieved.

I love this place. I’m just gutted I didn’t get to try out breakfast before it was my going home day. The smashed avocado looked incredible. Actually ALL the food around me looked insanely good! Deffo food envy as I was sitting. Food all looked incredible! I just wished I could have tried it all!! I popped in for a coffee mid morning & then returned for the something light & had the panna cotta granola which was seriously yum Coffee was seriously really great too. Had the best welcome from the guys too & a great chat about London & Catford! So evident that the guys have passion for this place & it’s just so lovely. I also love what that guys have done to the interior. The whole interior with the exposed brick & colour theme & design is thoughtfully decorated, so friendly, warm & somewhere I could happily spent every day coming to, chilling out, reading or working, or just stopping by for a chat. I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE! and I will be sure to return!!!! Thank you to the guys @thesixteentwelve for making my last morning great & welcoming & if you ever return to London & open up a coffee shop COUNT ME IN for being a permanent regular! 😀

If you've food allergies, beware! I have strong intolerance for any milk products and gluten. The waitress was not great in knowing thr menu. When speaking, she suggested me dishes with sourdough several times even though I've said to her it contains gluten, her response was but it's sourdough... The menu seems appealing to these who have special diets, that's why we've chosen this place. Unfortunately the staff was not really helpful. Gluten or vegan versions available? We'll, not really. They just take away the ingredients and not adding anything instead, which for me is not an another option but just having less for the same money. I've asked about swapping some of the allergens and the answer was that I can do it and pay extra...

When asked for olive oil for the bread (as on menu it says they don't use butter if you ask for vegan) the waitress responded that they don't use it. We asked if they use vegan butter so I've got that. I've got shakshuka which in itself was tasty. A bit weird because it was not really made as it should, they just fried eggs and topped it with tomato sauce, hasselnuts, pomegranate seeds and dates. Bit odd combination but actually worked! The position was half the plate so for 150kr/20euro I didn't fill myself. After the meal I started to feel funny. I was asking another staff member if they've for sure used vegan butter, she ran to check with the chef and came back with the answer PROBABLY. When you deal with allergies and intolerances, probably isn't enough. When mentioned that I feel funky, her answer was that they've not used anything. I insisted that there was definitely some fat, butter or something as the bread was toasted, her response was that the cook fried the eggs on olive oil...

Would i be back? I...
