Las Reces — Restaurant in Higüey

We could only book one restaurant and it was a big service disappointment. We decided to give the chance to Las Reses due to reviews I had read before, but that now I am pretty sure they are asked to guests for, as waiters say they are given paid days off in exchange of a good reviews received, situation that it seems it only happens with this particular restaurant, as I don't see similar suspiciously good reviews for the rest of the restaurants in the resort. We had our reservation for 9:30 pm, we arrived a bit earlier and we were admitted right away by the not so happy hostess, only 2 other tables were occupied, we were not welcomed warmly and which is more shocking, Henry López, the person I had read the most good comments about, was cold and dismissive towards us right from the beginning, maybe because we did not order a bottle of wine as other tables did. We ordered our appetizers which were minuscule, 2 tiny meatballs in a pool of sauce and average chicken wings, followed by a 40 minutes wait for our main courses which were huge and tasty. Flavor was really good, but the bad and mediocre service obscured our experience, we felt judged for not being rich, pretty much. Only kind person in the whole restaurant was a waitress putting cutlery on the tables who kindly took us pictures before exiting the restaurant.

Next time we will try La Hacienda or Via Veneto, hoping it will be better than Las Reses, we've booked a 5-nights stay for next year, hopefully we could be granted more restaurant reservations than the single one we had for our 4-nights stay, as we are not Royal Level, and we don't intend to purchase a shared...

Bad experience even from before entering the restaurant. When we arrived at the door there was not even a smile from the hostess. When going in our table was not ready yet, even though we had a reservation. Everyone mentioned in the reviews how lovely Henry is, well he has not even spoken to us, not even “Hello”, he came to the table and we said hello and he did not speak at all. He was really nice to other people around though, so not sure why he treated us like that. He has not come to the table after he took the order at all. When the starter arrived, we were given two when we only ordered one. The chicken wings tasted really nice. After the starter we waited for about 50 minutes for our mains and we were brought 3 mains instead of 2 that we ordered. The Ribeye was nice but portion is way too big and we ordered it medium-rare and it was medium to medium-well instead. Nice restaurant In occidental punta cana resort. Its a Grilled and steak theme restaurant. I ordered the steak, it came with baked potato, corn on cob, and some vegetables. The food was very good.

negatives would be:

1. the menu is only online, you have to use your phone to see it and there was some trouble for me at first accessing it because the link is to a site then you have do download the menu. A bit of a hassel, it would be nice to have a menu posted to just take picture of or read before you enter.
2. took a little while for them to come and take my order after i sat down, not too long, but they were also pretty busy at the time.
3. it was very loud, there was alot of yelling from the guests at tables, celebrating and drunk.
