Visited with my husband while looking for a mexican place in the area - agreed to give them a try since we are always eager to try visiting new places and we had already visited wacamole several times
The atmosphere is lovely: beautiful interior design outdoors and indoors - very inviting
Unfortunately, while wanting to have some mexican food, we didn't find the menu to be that interesting - they even have more drinks than the food they serve
Since we were already there, seated - we thought: ok, lets just have a drink and a small appetizer and then lets just go later on have dinner somewhere else!
So, we ordered a beer, a piña colada and a guacamole with chips (we thought that was an appetizer, but it seemed more like a side dish since the portion was as small as you can see in the picture).... Thats actually the guacamole size we get in other places when you pay for a guacamole side to add to your main dish...
The guacamole was a little bit watery, so we were not even happy having ordered it
Nothing to say about the beer, obviously - but my piña colada was super odd; it had a weird cream on top sprinkled with confetti, which made me feel like I was having a birthday cupcake, and not a tropical refreshing piña colada
This made around RD$1800 pesos 😂 plus a tip we left, making it a total of RD$2,000 paid for two drinks and a side dish 😂
The service after being seated was pretty slow, it took them a while to get us the bill: two different servers came with two different orders by mistake until a third one finally came to get us the bill after manager passed by checking on every table, and realized we had requested ours a while ago.
While talking about new places in the destination some other friends mentioned they had also heard about the place being very overpriced, so it wasnt only really our perception.
Next day my husband and I had lunch at Citrus for example and ordered one appetizer, two main dishes (osobuco and a fried rice with fried pork filled with cheese), one bottled water and two drinks and it made around RD$3,500 pesos 😅 - this place made no sense at all 😂
Anyway, I don't see a reason why I would go back to their place or recommend...
Read moreI visited this restaurant three times, and while the first two experiences were pleasant, the most recent visit left much to be desired. I frequently ordered the chicken enchilada, which was consistently delicious, featuring tender, juicy chicken chunks. However, on my third visit, the enchilada was served with what appeared to be shredded chicken, resembling tuna, which completely altered the dish’s flavor and quality.
The more concerning issue arose when my husband received a plate that appeared to contain a variety of meats, accompanied by a small bowl of rice. This was not what he had ordered, and it was one of the most expensive dishes on the menu, totaling 2,500 pesos. When my husband tried to explain the mistake, a manager approached and engaged in a back-and-forth exchange, suggesting that the error was somehow his fault. Shockingly, the waiter even suggested to pay some money from his own pocket to avoid us sending the order back which would “get him in trouble with his boss.”
I have never encountered a situation where a restaurant not only delivers the wrong order but also expects the customer to pay for it. The manager’s dismissive attitude and attempt to push the blame onto the customer was deeply disappointing. To resolve the situation, I reluctantly paid for the entire meal, despite not accepting the incorrect dish. The plate was returned, as it was the principle of the matter, not the cost.
While a small discount was offered, it hardly reflected the severity of the mistake, nor did it address the lack of proper service. In my view, a manager who allows a customer to pay for something they did not order is complicit in poor service. After this experience, I have decided I will not return to this restaurant and will be sharing my experience with others to ensure they are aware & I Would hope they check with the person taking their order, not once not twice but perhaps three times to make sure the order is correct and if you they don’t speak English make sure you verify it on...
Read moreOur meal started by being sat down by an initial waiter that shared with us the Tuesday special for tacos at 125 pesos each. When our actual waiter arrived I asked what protein choices I had for the tacos that were part of the deal and was told that I had to order the 3 tacos entree and it would be 50% off that stated price. I could not order just one taco like I was initially told.
We decided to start with a guacamole appetizer. When it arrived at the table, the portion size was reasonable, but it only had 3 chips stuck into the dip, like a garnish. We asked our waiter where the chips were, and he said, "You want chips?", as if it normally does not come with chips. The guacamole lacked flavor (spice and salt) and was very watery. The chips were not salted either and over cooked. Our waiter noticed we weren't eating it, so we asked for salt and pepper. It helped a little.
My husband wanted nachos but asked to sub the shredded chicken for fajita chicken. This substitute costs an additional 500 pesos (the cost of an entire entree). The nachos had very little cheese, but the chicken had good flavor.
I ordered the elote appetizer as my meal. I had wanted a single taco, too, but was told I could not order just one. The elote was smothered in lime crema that was so salty that it was barely edible.. I had to wonder if the waiter told the kitchen about my request for salt because of the lack of flavor in the guacamole and if there was some sort of intentional over-salting. 🤔
We also ordered 2 drinks with our meal.... Michelada and a mojito - neither were remarkable.
We ended up spending $57 US before tip, which seemed very overpriced for the amount of food we ordered. The food wasn't appetizing, and we didn't even finish eating.
We will not eat here again, and...
