Café de Tere — Restaurant in Guayaquil

During my recent visit to El Café de Tere in Garzota, Guayaquil, I enjoyed a delightful desayuno. The huevos con queso were delicious, and the café negro was robust and flavorful. We also savored humitas and empanadas de verde con relleno de carne, which were both exquisite.

The open seating area, while providing a semi-al-fresco experience, lacked sufficient cooling; the overhead fans didn't quite combat the coastal heat. Additionally, smoking was prohibited, which is understandable to ensure the comfort of all patrons, but an area for smokers could be assigned. However, addressing the temperature issue would enhance the overall experience.

Tons of options, not bad for a breakfast meal. Variety of breakfast options, had the Tigrillo with chicharrón. Very delicious. Along with a Tortilla de Verde, not served with cheese sauce. It was a little plain and dry. Wouldn’t recommend. The ordered process is a little different, they will come and take your order and then give you a ticket to pay. After paying, they will give you a buzzer to alert you your order is ready. Be specific when ordering coffee, as it is not accompanied with milk. Milk is a separate order. I did not like the bolon I got to be honest. It lacked of flavor. I did not know they prepare their bolons with boiled plantains not like in other places where they prepare bolons with fried or grilled plantains. You can call it "a light bolon" but that is not what I was looking for. It was a very disappointing experience.
