I would say the hotel is a nice facility, yet i was quite hesitant to give it 3 or less but i think they are trying to improve.
So this is my review of a business stay with an event held in the same hotel: 1- staff is friendly, but if you are not a Spanish speaker "like me" you will have hard time communicating with most of the staff. 2- rooms are clean, yet as a 4 stars hotel, it lacks a few amenities. And remember, communication is not easy to ask for what's missing. 3- I would say most of the front desk team "if not all" are rookies! Not well trained or lacking basics of common sense... they knocked my door at 10pm to charge my card for a laundry service while I'm having a 2,000$ event and couldn't wait till morning 🙃! 4- food quality is V good, but also if you have food restrictions, it will be hard to communicate as almost no English in this 4 stars hotel!!!. 5- I stayed in 2 different rooms, the size is decent but it has a major flaw in its lighting design.. all the room's light is one single switch, so it is either as bright as a stadium or pitch black! There is no separate switch for night light. 6- with a price tag comparable to the sheraton across the street, I would expect a better service level, specially that they are positioning themselves in that category!
I think management needs to spend more on training and hiring more experienced staff with better communication abilities.
With all the above comments, i would still recommend the hotel and if i come again to Guayaquil, it will still...
Read moreAs my small group reached the arrivals area of the terminal at GYE Airport there was a driver waiting for us with our names on a placard. The driver loaded our taxi and were brought to the hotel in about ten minutes. The General Manager, Mr. Hugo Barreto, greeted us at check-in. Our luggage was brought to our respective rooms and at breakfast we were told that the General Manager had arranged for our breakfasts to be included in the price of our rooms as a courtesy. Then after we had settled in, the Director of Sales, Mr. Byron, gave us a full tour of the facility and answered all our questions. When I returned to my room, Ms Ariana Lucas, the Quality Manager, had left me a tray of macaroons and brownies, with a bottle of cold sparkling water. There are two levels of rooms: standard and business class. The difference is not in size but amenities available such as a snack and refreshments table in the common area of the floor. The bridge connecting the hotel to the Mall del Sol gave us a huge number of options for dining and shopping. We will definitely return during future business trips to and through Guayaquil. The hotel has excellent security, has been completely remodeled within the past few years, and we were treated very well by all the staff. Most highly recommended for the seasoned traveler whether for business or pleasure. Special thanks to Hugo, Byron, and Ariana, you are master hoteliers and the...
Read moreAbsolutely horrible experience. We booked a room in Sonesta upon reading good reviews, but unfortunately our experience was very negative from the beginning. When we entered the room the carpet was clearly dirty and musty and had not been cleaned. It was a room with two full size beds. My wife had the sense to lift up the blankets on her bed and noticed that her sheets were not clean. I reassured her that it was a great hotel, but I neglected to check my bed which I would share with my 7 year old son. When we woke up the next morning, my son was covered in flea bites, and when I took a closer look at the sheets, I noticed black spots as well as spots of blood. The worst part of all was the way that the management handled the situation. They came to the room to "inspect" only to tell us why it was not their fault. My wife is a doctor and clearly knows blood when she sees it. She also thinks that the bites might be SCABIES because of the linear pattern. Instead of offering a full refund, we were only offered a small fraction of a refund which won't come close to covering the cost of my son's antibiotics. DO NOT STAY HERE! ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE SMALL...
