Mall del Sol — Local services in Guayaquil

One of the first big Malls in Guayaquil and has been getting better over time. Recently added new wings and commercial spaces plus walkways to hotels and nearby landmarks. The gym in the parking lot is an added bonus. The film selection in this particular Cinemark are the best I have seen, and a lot of English features come here for subtitled versions. The restaurant selection is the only down side, the main food court has lost a lot of good places, miss the falafel joint and the e Tony Roma's. On the plus side, the best bookstore in the city is still here, and also big Marathon Sports. Excellent holiday programming. Some complaints about late night creeps hanging out in the dark corners. Great transit connectivity and proximity to the airport. Safe parking lots. Needs healthier restaurant options and upscale dining is not as good as it could be. So...

When we visit Guayaquil, we usually stay near this Mall. It's clean and a nice escape from the hot climate. They have resturants like Noe with great sushi and delicious salmon dishes as well as fast food in the food court (my favorite is Wok to Walk). Great coffee and dessert places like Sweet and Coffee or my favorite cookie place Biscuits. There's a MegaMaxi for groceries and cleaning supplies or Pycca and Sukasa for home goods. The movie theater is nice and always has the lastest English movies. If you are from the States and find it hard to find your size in other cities, they sell larger sizes here - plus size stores for women (Optimoda) and men's shoes up to size 16 (Payless). One of the best and complete malls from Guayaquil, close enough from airport (less than 5 minutes by car), 4 parking floors, have many restaurants, 2 toy stores (one for kids one for collectionist), many banks and ATM, a pet store, movie theaters, coffee shops, clothes stores for national brands such as Pinto and Linea Verde, and international brands such as Adidas, Kennett Cole, etc., also have entertainment place for kids, a baby store, supermarket and 2 pharmacy stores (Fybeca and Pharmacy).
