La Gloria Restaurante — Restaurant in Mariscal Sucre

The place has a very nice layout. There is a bar, trendy and in a basement, looks very nice. Even though this restaurant is quite talked about, I wouldn’t say it deserves all fuss. It has no private parking, and the food is OK. Service is really good, all the waiters are helpful and understanding. This restaurant has a fusion of Mediterranean cuisine, as well as Peruvian and Ecuadorian. We order the classic “ceviche peruano”, it was good, but not special. Our main courses were “meh”, can’t say they were bad, neither were they extraordinary. Having said this, the place was very expensive. The don’t include VAT (which is 12%) or service (10%) on their menu, but they do add this two to your check. Great place ! We were already desperated after dining mediocre minus food at Quito But this place with their very professional and friendly service and delicious food saved us ! We enjoyed every dish ! Also we bought a bottle of wine and drank only a half so we left it at the restaurant for tomorrow dinner ( of course we will come back ) It’s very close to our hotel The Swiss We are shrimps as an appetizer, caviche tuna , a rack of lamb and fish the catch of the day All were very very delicious! The lamb was very soft and the fish ( see bass Rombalo they call it in Spanish) was very gentle and full of taste! En realidad fue un almuerzo glorioso, siendo mi segunda experiencia en La Gloria, toda la experiencia fue y precisamente de refuerzo de mi primera impresión, un amable y atento servicio un trato muy respetuoso y cordial de todo el staff, el café expreso perfecto, con buen aroma y sabor, lo solicite en el bar pero rápidamente me pase al restaurante y fueron muy cordiales en llevar el café hasta mi nueva mesa, de inmediato la carta la cual es rica en opciones todas ellas muy provocativas, hacen un poco difícil decidir pues todo lo propuesto en la carta llama la atención, está vez a diferencia de la primera en cuyo momento me prepararon de entrada un Tostón de portobellos al tomillo espectaculares y un Jarrete de ternera que estaba para romper el protocolo y chuparse los dedos. En esta oportunidad de entrada tuvimos un muy sabroso pulpito a la parrilla, en aceite de oliva, aceitunas y alcaparras, con una delicada ensalada de berros, su color, textura y sabor en el término perfecto bordes exteriores crujientes interior tierno, sabor inigualable, el mejor Pulpo de Ecuador sin duda alguna, junto con el pulpo tuvimos el placer de saborear una suave burrata con tomates cherry con un interesante contraste de aroma, textura y sabor; luego fue un exquisito Risotto al “nero di seppia”. Arroz a la tinta de calamar, calamares y camarones, con un delicado acento picante que fue la estrella del medio día.

Insisto y reafirmó mí criterio anterior de que el Resaurante La Gloria hace honor a su nombre por la excelente mezcla entre buenos productos y servicio de primera.
