I came in hungry. We ordered the goat. They came back to tell us they were out of goat. Waiter suggested another meal. Meanwhile a table of two that came in after us got served the meal they told us they were out of. I asked and they said they got a cancellation for a reservation and they now have one more goat meal left. But I had already ordered something else out of not having my first choice. At this point I lost my appetite and left without eating the meal I ordered out of having no choice. I did not pay. You played with my stomach. You get to eat the loss. To the owners: kill this policy of letting customers call in orders for potential reservation. New policy: if you have money in your pocket and you’re in the restaurant you get priority. The food: OMG. First of all, the portions are huge. I had the madbi chicken—it comes with soup, spiced rice with raisins, a red tomato sauce, and a fresh salad. I ordered the flatbread to accompany it, which, as you can see, was enough for several people. The chicken was cooked nicely.
The highlight of the meal for me, though, was the dessert called areeka. It was sweet, warm, and a unforgettable mix of textures.
If I were in Hurghada for longer, I would...
