Vaga Mama — Restaurant in Tartu linn

I was there with my colleague last Thursday, cause a friend said, it´s a new place in Pärnu. He also said: the dishes are very good but the service is bad!

Indeed he was right! Everything is new and clean - inside and outside. The dish was very good, we had some handmade springrolls with meat as a starter, some seafood and curry (3 pepperoni) as main dish. The chief comes definitly from Asian area, so i thought my curry might be a bit more spice - but it wasn´t :-( Very delicious!!!

Unfortunately the waiter was not really at work with is head. As we ordered our dishes he didn´t tell us, that we should order some sidedish. Can you imagine how we wondered getting no rice? Even he couldn´t remember for 3 minutes that i ordered 2 more beers. The best or most terrible - as we paid - he came out from the Restaurant and told how much we should pay, this was so loud that the next 3 tables were able to hear every word.

We told him that this is not correct, his excuse was, that he´s working there the third day.

Ok, what shall we say, if you wanna have a good curry and if you are sick of "very good service" THEN COME TO THIS...

Having eaten with great satisfaction from the a la carte menu at Vaga Mama in Viljandi, I finally discovered the one in Tartu. I've had the lunch special there several times now, and can't say I'm overly impressed - it's not flavored or spicy enough. If a crushed chili paste were not offered (you have to ask for it, or see it in a small bowl next to the cash register), the food would be tasteless. But I suppose the restaurant caters to what they think is the Estonian palate, instead of trying to educate people that there are foods other than the bland rubbish that forms the...

Tartu Vanemuise lähedal asuv Aasia roogasid pakkuv söögikoht. Autoga maja ette ega ka päris lähedale ei pääse. Altpoolt lähenedes tuleb tänavatreppe kasutada - Teatri/ Ülikooli poolt lähenedes saab läbi pargi kõndida. Esmaspäeva õhtul olime ainsad kohapeal sööjad, kuid toidukullereid käis üksteise järel. Menüü on mitmekülgne - isegi konnakoibi oli saadaval. Tuleb jälgida, mida tellid - osade roogadega on riis või nuudlid kaasas, kuid osadega mitte ja siis tuleb enesele see, mis sobib, juurde tellida. Üldjuhul on portsjonid kahele sobivad - mõistlik on teenindaja käest üle küsida, et enese jaoks sobiv tellimus teha. Toit oli hea, kuid see ei olnud väga hea. Kala taigna sees oli maitsetu ja ka juurde lisatud kaste ei teinud sellest mõnusat anpsu - alles krõbedad ehk glasuuritud brokkoli ja lillkapsas andsid kalaga kokku aasiapärase maitseelamuse. Ka Pekingi kana annuses oli kana maitsetu, kuigi see oli kastme sees - jäi tunda selline selgelt eraldi olev üleminek. Üldiselt oli ju vürtse kõikides roogades ja ka õhetust esines - Chinese Chopsy oli selles valikus kõige vürtsikam suutäis.
