El Fant - Cafe & Bar — Restaurant in Helsinki sub-region

It was one of my favorite coffee places in Helsinki. Visited some days ago and was super disappointed. The main door is broken (not a big deal). One of the tables was covered by paper bags for delivery. Barista didn't ask about milk for cappuccino. After all cappuccino wasn't tasty. We didn't get spoons. My cup had a coffee stain from preparation. Rather expensive. Heard that there was no filter coffee (on Sunday!). The table was covered with some crumbs. Also, heard from a friend that toilet wasn't working. We were there just a little bit earlier than closing, but blinking lights every few minutes gave pressure to leave. Super sad to have such experience and got the feeling that I don't want to come again....

Specialty coffee afficionado entered the chat...The only good thing about El Fant is the fact it is located in the city centre, within the two mins from the Christmas market. Nice place just to have a bite and drink something warm on these cold winter days. But the coffee experience has been the worst one so far. The cappuccino was absolutely tasteless, no flavours in the single espresso base. As for my friend's filter coffee, the same story. Quite strange, given the fact, I brewed filter coffee using the beans from Good Life Roasters some time ago, and it was not mind-blowing, but, nevertheless, pretty much okay. Unfortunately, cannot recommend this place for true coffee lovers, otherwise, you might get...

Great staff- matcha latte and coffee- which is good but again there are many great voffee places in this town. I used to like this place so much but- now the cakes quality and taste is not the same. Polenta cake tastes awful now/ wayyyy too sweet - why- it already has a sugar on top! , it has almost no nuts, and way too many raisins and it feels wet sticky inside with some terrible syrup / yet the polenta itself seems completely uncooked and raw crunchy. Weird. Jut tastes really sweet and unhealthy now. That was the highlight of all cakes and now is just terrible. The only tasty GF option is as bad as the other gf option. Time to change the...
