Restaurant Alexanderplats — Local services in Helsinki sub-region

We were a company of three, two of my guests first time in Helsinki and me. We concluded our day with a dinner at AP. We got a table beside the entrance, a space left outside the booking process for people who drop in. A bit drafty to sit just were the door is but the food and drink experience outweighed this small inconvenience.

We had the beaf tartar and scallops as starters, the former classic just as it was when it came to food scene decades ago, we loved it. Scallops were really tasty.

Main courses were duck breast on a salad, Filet mignon with pepper sauce and Pike quenelles. We shared each other's plates, we all loved everything.

We had the champagne on glass, really nice champagne served at just the right temperature. A glass of red from Italy accompanied the main course, that one also really good.

The service was friendly helpful and knowledgeable, and you could see that the staff enjoyed their work which gave a wonderful atmosphere in the room.

I'm glad that Helsinki has a place like this to offer, perfect for taking your dear guests or just pop by to have some good plain honest food without the intricacy and maybe even overdoing that you sometime find in fine dining venues.

The central location makes it also a perfect place for guests staying in a hotel in the heart of Helsinki.

Great and relaxed atmosphere restaurant that has good vibes. Food seems to vary a bit as per flavors. I personally had chicken, and the best part of it was cabbage. Never actually had that type of side. Really nice creaminess and a bit onion. For chicken, I am not sure about the idea. Somehow, I felt that it did not have flavor in it. Had to really induce stock/liquid sause into it. Started to feel that incrient would have standout better with different sauce. There was not really any clear flavor for it. Just mild. As per Arctic Char, I got the impression that it was brilliant. Just perfect. Additionally, it was a bit thought raising when bread cutting station was with margarine. Openly and people walking next to it. Would love to see just some full down cover for all and in best case, real butter with the bread. Couple slices of bread per person and real butter.
