Olkkari has a really relaxed atmosphere and the staff is really nice.

Wine pairing to the menu was excellent with really fresh wine choices and for me first time ever white wine matched with tartar, which was a perfect combination.

I had three starters, main course and dessert. everything tasted so good and I have never before had this good tartar anywhere. Also the zucchini and carrot starters were totally redefining to me how tasty small things can be made with good basic ingredients and talented and dedicated cook. The main course was the inner filet and potato pyre, of course it was nothing normal home made, but both the meat and the pyre were taken to the highest level of amazingly good taste combined with perfectly cooked meat. Dessert was Crème Fraîche ice cream which was so tasty with not being too sweet a really good match to the berries served next to it and amazing with the matched wine.

We tried all of their own cocktails and I also tried classic GT. All of these were really good and there is something for everyone to taste. Their black coffee was also worth mentioning as it had a really good soft taste without any milk or sugar.

We had a lot of expectations after the nice reviews so we booked the restaurant for our anniversary but it turned out as quite a disappointment. We got 5-course meal with wine pairing. First, the wine pairing is below average. That’s the first disappointment since there are many compliments about wine pairing. Most pairs are meh and there are couple of pairs we do not understand why. Second, the portion is quite small even compared to fine dining course meal portions. We usually come home full after 5-course meal but this time we did not. Third, except for very nice tuna starter and the dessert, the rest of the dishes is below average. Lastly, the atmosphere is quite casual + the waiter and waitress are new to the job. It’s not particularly wrong, they do try their best but there are things that they do not remember. Thanks to some confusion with a theatre booking we found ourselves outside Olkkari. It looked inviting, so we ventured in. Luckily there was a free table for us, I suspect it may get busier later in the evening. Our waitress admitted it was her first night, and she did ask if it was okay to have service in English. We opted for the tasting menu, which was very well put together and allergies taken well into consideration 👍 The pricing of our aperitif was excessive, otherwise no complaints.
