Restaurant Green Hippo - Töölö — Restaurant in Helsinki sub-region

I typically go there once a week because the avocado pasta with a side of chicken is not only lovely it's also a great post workout meal. But today I arrived 25 minutes before lunch and the waitress requested that me and my guest order at 1pm when lunch started. I was happy waiting until 1pm for my pasta to be served but requested to pay already. The cashier response was condescending and rude. Since the cooks are literally a meter behind the cashier she could have simply taken the order and informed them to prepare it after 1pm. But instead she kept repeating how much of a hassle it would be for them to do so and bobbled her head as if the request was unreasonable or impossible for her to implement. Anyway, just packed and left but it was a good reminder that one chooses a restaurant not just for the food but for the quality of the consumer service. I won't be spending my money...

The Green Hippo Restaurant just has to be visited because of its cute name. But it doesn’t only have a cute name, the food is super delicious as well. Today it’s sunny and warm weather so there’s the possibility to sit outside on the huge terrace - nice! I arrived at 11 am, Breakfast will be served til 11 am and Lunch from 11 am - 5 pm. Thus breakfast time was over they prepared a breakfast dish for me. As I love eggs Benedict, of course I had to order some and they were perfect, a nice toasted brioche bread with a perfect poached egg and delicious avocado and sauce hollandaise. Beside my dish even the cappuccino is very tasty and I’m not a big coffee lover. Now it’s 11:30 am and the terrace is crowded - if this is not a sign to come around and try the very tasty and affordable...

Compared to previous experiences, yesterday’s lunch was a big disappointment. The three of us each ordered the quinoa bowl “Jamie Bowliver.” They seemed to have been put together in a hurry: the dressing—and therefore, flavor—was more or less missing (as were tomatoes), the halloumi was cold and tough, and the portions smaller than other diners were receiving. We know that Green Hippo can do much better, so we may venture back in the future. But can’t recommend without...
