Be very very careful with this place if you have food allergies or sensitivities. We came here for dinner. Our waiter, a tall darker male, took our orders. I mentioned about gluten sensitivity and he recommended a different dish, which I then ordered. He didn’t ask what we wanted for drinks which was kind of odd for a high end place like this. But I was okay drinking water so it didn’t bother me.
After the order, I thought I should mention I don’t eat nuts just in case they didn’t list the ingredients in the menu. For 15 minutes I tried to catch the attention of our waiter but he was intentionally avoiding eye contact. It was extremely obvious it was intentional avoidance, he just didn’t want to attend us. You could kind of tell he saw us because he turned away his head every time I tried to waved my hand. After 15 minutes I asked another waiter if he could assist and they were very helpful.
When it was time for dessert, I ordered brie. The menu listed pistachios and I asked the brie without pistachios. I also asked if the brie comes with bread as I don’t eat bread. The waiter told no, there’s no bread. When the Brie was served, it was a ball covered with some seeds and other things. I asked the waiter what it was covered with. He said he doesn’t know but there are no pistachios. I started eating and realized there were some things with nutty flavor and texture. I’m pretty sure they were nuts. I tried to catch the attention of our waiter but he was busy doing some cleaning errands so I asked another waiter what were the other things. The waiter came back and told there was barely. Barley is not gluten free. And I am pretty sure there was also some pistachios or some other nuts.
When it came time to pay, they asked for a tip. In Finland, I like to tip for a great service. This service wasn’t great or even good, at least not on behalf of our own waiter. The other two waiters seemed knowledgeable and professional. From our own waiter we didn’t really get any service. If you have a high end place like this, you expect waiters to know the ingredients of the dishes or at least be ready to consult the kitchen when they don’t. You expect the waiters not to intentionally avoid serving you or avoid eye contact with you for extended periods of time. Unfortunately this wasn’t our experience in this place.
Food was otherwise great but there was a tendon or something in the beef of the length of the cut that was impossible to byte through with your teeth.
Atmosphere was okay. Nice interior but nothing astonishing. A little boring with no...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Robusto with friends, and the experience was nothing short of brilliant. We opted for the menu with wine pairings, and it turned out to be an excellent choice. Every course was well thought out, with flavors that complemented each other beautifully, and the wines were expertly selected to enhance each dish.
The food itself was consistently delicious, with every part of the menu delivering on taste and balance. The presentation of both the dishes and the wines was also a highlight, reflecting the attention to detail that went into the meal.
The service was warm and attentive, striking the right balance between professionalism and a personal touch. The staff took the time to present each wine and dish, making the experience even more enjoyable.
Overall, Robusto provided a fantastic dining experience, where food, wine, and service came together seamlessly. If you’re looking for a refined yet welcoming place to enjoy a well-curated menu with great pairings, this is a spot...
Read moreAt first entry, I was drawn to the high ceilings, it adds a spaciousness element, even in closer table options. As well, full view of the kitchen really allowed to see the detail that went into each dish.
We ordered two appetizers, two entrees, two desserts with the intent to share all. Each dish had its own identity but kept the freshness of the seasonal ingredients at the heart.
Each dish did have a strong saucing, but some were the best parts, such as the onion purée within the beef dish- the meat was exceptionally tender as well- that stood out to both of us.
Slight upselling on the drink menu but very cheerful staff. The restaurant was perhaps 10% full so they were able to remain attentive but out of sight so you didn’t feel watched.
Dinner was at 19:00, a disciplined me would have been fine with the perfectly full sensation that occurred. But by 23:00, it...
