The food and drinks offerings are ok/good - though 17€ for a lunch buffet for a soup, a few cold dishes and only one warm dish, is a very steep price. For good but not excellent food, in my opinion.
But I had a very negative experience here. I was thrown out, because I had just an espresso at the moment. The older female waiter (owner?) seemed to me very stressed and plainly rude and inappropriate when she suddenly started to force me out of the place, interrupting me while having an important phone call, even though I signed that I can’t talk at the moment.
I had had an espresso only this time, and it was a lunch time, so she wanted to get my table to the customers who came for lunch. Which is understandable, if the point is making as much money as you can. In the short term. But it’s categorising customers and communicating that some are welcome, others not. It’s not a solid plan if creating a positive customer experience is a goal. Being forced out is an opposite of feeling welcome - which should be the goal for cafes and restaurants. I felt it emotionally really negative.
At least customers should be communicated clearly beforehand with a sign or verbally that during the lunch time the customers who have lunch are prioritised.
Though I didn’t see that this was a relevant challenge here, as there were no other customers having only coffee, so I just see it as stressed, over-productive and inconsiderate attitude from the...
Read moreReally tasty food, but I had a personal bad experience with the stuff.
Today the woman at the counter made me feel really bad and guilty for sharing my food the day before with my husband (who was full, ate his lunch 30 min before we came) and my little kid who is 2 y.o. and refuses to eat the whole meal. We had the three course meal for me, and I shared some of it with them. Nobody told me that day it’s something I can’t do (I would understand of course and obey). But when we returned to Ani’s cafe next day for lunch with the brightest expectations, after speaking to the woman at the counter I just got the feeling that I did something really bad and that I am not welcomed here anymore. That made me feel really upset and neglected and we decided it’s...
Read moreAt summertime extra busy, taking orders is super slow, so prepare for +30-60 minutes waiting for your lunch time, depending on your group size. With group of five we stayed for an hour longer than what originally estimated, even though we had a table reservation. Cakes are delicious, and so is coffee. The Ani's special salad, although nicely written on the menu, was not impressive, too leafy and not filling. The yoghurt dressing was just yoghurt. We were craving to have more substantial veg food options on the menu, than just salads and gaspacho (options with more protein). The spinach pancake was excellent. A nice touch with in-house-baked bread, it was...
