Formerly Banque de France rehabilitated in a Brasserie. Both a Champagne bar and a traditional restaurant, Brasserie la banque has quite the amusing concept. Even the old safe room is now access to commodities. Other than that, the actual restaurant stays dimmed and traditional. Some of the dishes were a hit, others were less of a success. However, authenticity and care were shown in each of them. The great aspect is the extensive list of Champagne from big houses to small producers and from various regions of Champagne. Overall, I'd say it's a warm and cozy place for a casual but lovely diner. The place did seemed quite popular as it was packed on a Monday evening, even with the streets of Épernay being ghostly deserted as soon as the sunshine was gone.

Very classy restaurant, with a warm atmosphere, elegant table setup and friendly staff. The menu contained good meals and the champagne choice list was big enough to satisfy most customers. I enjoyed my steak and desert, a lot. Also the champagne suggested by the waitress was really good. So, from my perspective, 5 stars are well deserved. My friends view was not exactly the same and could probably result in 4 stars, mostly cause of how well done the meat was cooked. But that can be subjective. Expect the place to cost quite a bit. ~50€/person for a full meal. For me, it was a great experience and probably will repeat it for a special occasion.

Average at best, menu bit of a scam. We had two 3-course menus with champagne per course (58 euro pp), each ordering 1 of two options. Service was swift, professionally friendly and a bit slow when wanting to pay (took more than 20 minutes).

Mains were average, with both fish and steak (2 separate small pieces) getting exactly the same scarce vegetables (7 peas, and sliver of capsicum with seeds still in it and one small piece of carrot) and a piece of fruit that returned to accompany both desserts. The promised champagne biscuits were missing from the starter, and the mushrooms from the main. The desserts were the most disappointing: a tasteless fig tart and a tiramisu with literally one measly piece of biscuit in it and I believe no alcohol at all, nor was it set.

The champagnes were the same for all dishes and definitely the cheapest versions available. Maybe a la carte is the better idea here, but then don't offer a weekend menu that you basically can't put on the table. The room was uncomfortably hot by the way..

All in all, disappointing food and feeling a bit scammed despite a nice setting. Come here for the posh-ish atmosphere if you dont have other options, but definitely not for the menus which are designed to be served as cheaply as possible and are basically not worth their money...

It is unfortunate the host was so rude to us. We asked to be seated for dinner. Once taken to the back room for dinner with white table cloths and no other guest in the dining room, we decided it better to sit in the lounge/bar area. We were not given this option upon arrival, nor did we know there was a separate dining room. It was our first time there. After changing our minds, the host, an older man, bald, was exasperated that we wanted to go back by the bar area, throwing his head back and abruptly turning around and pointing for us to go back from where we entered. He was clearly annoyed. He then pointed to a table we could sit at, did not stop walking/nor properly seat us, and walked off without giving us the menu. His attitude and presence made us feel very unwelcomed. The food was okay and in my opinion, overpriced. I do want to mention the other servers were welcoming almost as if to overcompensate for the brash treatment from the host. I understand this could be a language barrier situation, however you can always make people feel welcome with a smile! He needs some work on people skills. Especially in a town that has so many tourists/visitors. I’m sure there success depends on their...

We didn’t have high expectations after reading the other reviews but we didn’t want a fine dining dinner and options in the area are limited and we only booked 4 days before at which point a lot was already full on a Friday night . You HAVE to book something in advance for all meals when visiting Champagne. The service was friendly when given . But in fairness I’ve never seen hospitality staff walk so slow . The manager sent so many people away with an unfriendly “complet” and a look as I “why do you not make a reservation “. But the restaurant was only ever half full. If the staff actually worked even half as quick they could accommodate more people .

The meals were good , plat du jour of steak champignons and a tomato tartin from the starter menu but it was very big so served me as a main (we had lunch out too).

Deserts appeared to be made off site or far in advance and were nothing special so would skip these next time .

Great wine and champagne choices at reasonable prices for the location.

Beautiful building , hardly changed from when it was an actual bank according to...
