I had the worst meal in the past six days at Aix here. I was worried by the mixed reviews here, but I was unable to book at the place we wanted to dine in on this Saturday evening so I still decided to give this restaurant a try, given the Michelin mention and lots of positive reviews. We ordered the full 4 course menu with a bottle of wine.
Starting with the wine, it was not the vintage that was printed on the wine menu and I mentioned it to the waitress, but another young waiter later came by and simply apologized but did not offer any alternatives. As for the food, every dish was very poorly executed by the line chefs, the sauces and flavors were poorly coordinated - many with the same sauces, and most of the dishes were either too bland or too salty. The meat quality was good, but that was about it; the fish meat for both my wife and I were overcooked.
The entire restaurant was filled with large parties either celebrating birthday or co-workers getting together, and the noise level was unbearable; obviously many others were having a great time. The main course took half an hour to deliver, and I couldn't even flag down a waitress to request some attention. Some of the waiters were too busy talking with their own staffs, even though I know one of them saw me signal to her, and she still did not come by. In the end, I had to go to the front door where the cashier is to pay for my meal. Maybe it was just an off night for Côté Cour, but we really had a terrible dining experience at this restaurant, and the price we paid was not worth what...
Read moreWe had dinner here last night and it was the worst we have had in Provence so far. The staff were inattentive before they were busy, but then near impossible to get a hold of once the restaurant filled up to capacity.
We were sat at a table where the lightbulb was missing. We ordered the €45 set menus. Although my husband enjoyed his starter (foie grae), we both agreed that other starter and main dish (tuna) had a bitter after taste. We weren't able to eat most of both. Although we ordered opposite main dishes so that I would not be given pork (my only dietary restriction), they served me the dish with pork.
We waited over 45 minutes for dessert and although the strawberry merengue was of normal standard, the molten chocolate cake came out super hot. It was not cooked enough to even hold the ice cream on the top. It fell through the top and made a soup like texture rather than that of a molten cake with ice cream. The handle was so hot that my husband burnt his hand by accidentally grazing the handle.
My husband and I enjoy eating out and have been using the Michelin Guide as our source of recommendations while travelling through Provence. We have no idea how this restaurant made the cut. The taste and presentation would have been disappointing at an average restaurant, let alone a Michelin Guide...
Read moreI´m sorry to say that it seems like this restaurant har bought their Michelin star on ebay. The service was almost non existing.
My main course was good: A "seabass from head to toe". Tasteful, juicy fish, and well balanced. Served with a heavenly potato-puré with truffles.
My wife had a veal, which was a bit overcooked, and messy presented. But okey when it comes to taste.
My daughter had a dish from the children menu. A dry, tasteless chicken with mashed potatoes.
We had main course and desert, and we had to wait one hour and fifteen minutes after we had finished our main course, before our dirty plates was removed. No one asked us during this time if everything was okey, or if there were anything we needed.
Our desert Crème brûlée was cold, and more like a vanilla sauce. The ice-cream was okey. Our daughters Chokolade mousse was like a «cacao messy soup».
The waiters was too busy, and had very little attention to what was going on at our table. The treated us more or less like air. No one asked us if the food tasted okey during meal. The service was almost...
