Pépé 2000 — Restaurant in Albertville

Nice food and nice service from the wait staff. Got into a truly HORRIBLE argument with the manger when I was at the till waiting to pay a €400 bill. She had an APPALLING, and strangely unwarranted, attitude toward me. Without provocation, she forcefully accused me of being pushy and rude when I was waiting (relatively patiently, as far as I was aware) to pay, after being pointedly ignored for several minutes. When I suggested that she shouldn’t be speaking to me in such an aggressive manner, and declined to meekly accept her aggressive accusations, she just upped the ante by several orders of magnitude and ignited a huge argument. I left the restaurant by paying the bill, with her remonstrations to “get out” ringing in my ears: a rather sad end to a fun evening. I repeat that the table staff were lovely and helped make our evening enjoyable. My problem was with the manager lady when I came to pay. Maybe we’re just used to a different type of interaction with representatives in the hospitality industry in London. This evening’s discussion with the lady in question were surprising and quite shocking. It goes without saying that the lady in question has a different interpretation of the the exchange between us (the truth being a three-edged sword: my version; her version; and the facts). Best place we ate in for the trip, pizza dough was so light it was amazing. The rest of the food very good too, as was the service and the atmosphere.

It was slightly cramped when everybody turned up to eat, but the staff looked after us well. Which was a complete difference to earlier in the day when I was ignored for 7 minutes in an empty bar and then walked out. Had I not heard such good things about the place I wouldn't have returned.

How I Mark. I may mark differently to some other reviewers, some might see this as harsh, others may see it as fair. But here's how I look at it:

5 star - WOW. I want to go back and look forward to doing so. They delivered everything expected and more. The 'more' is normally about the service or attitude of the staff. 4 star - GOOD. They delivered everything I wanted and a bit more. I recommend them and would go back. 3 star - OK. They delivered what I expected, I would go back if I needed to, although don't currently plan on doing so. 2 star - Not very good. I didn't get what I expected and the service wasn't good. I don't recommend this place. I might get dragged back here, although will always try to avoid it 1 star - RUBBISH. Don't go there, I certainly won't go there again. Booked a table for 7, for a traditional last night meal with friends. Great service from the waitress, attentive, and polite. We ordered the Ribeye, which was €49, pp for a 500g steak and two other dishes were ordered. The steaks came with fries, and although the steaks were well presented and cooked well, the fries were a joke. To add insult to injury my steak was no where near 500grams and closer to 300 grams although that may have been the luck of the

draw, but for €90 euros for a main and a bottle of rose wine (Minusty) I have to be honest and say it was very disappointing despite the great service and atmosphere. I won't be going back for Steak or fries. My friends Lasagna...
