POZA — Restaurant in Bayonne

Food - we started with the tartare de veau and tacos gambas. Both dishes were presented well, tasted good, and were well-portioned. The tartare de veau was excellent, I recommend it. However, the tacos had much too many spices - the taste of the gambas was completely hidden.

The second and final course we indulged in were the ribs. The meat was seasoned and cooked to perfection. The accompaniment of sweet potatoes paired well. The choice to add mustard sauce is a bit strange but it worked pretty well, although, there was twice as much sauce as there should have been. It completely drowned the salad.

Drinks - The Pornstar Martini is as good as you'll find. Great balance between the passionfruit, vanille, and vodka. Great for those with a sweet tooth.

Service - Effective and simple.

Atmosphere - The restaurant is a strange mix of a restaurant, a bar, and a nightclub. It doesn't have a clear identity. The entrance represents this personality crisis the best. We thought the establishment was closed and it wasn't until other clients allowed themselves into the building that we realised it was open.

Once we were inside, we had to get the attention of the server that we had arrived, as he was busy talking to the barman. The star has not fallen down for nothing. Food and cocktail are good, nothing to say. The service table wasn't at the expectation. Staying an half an hour waiting a dessert menu, and be forgotten while the waitress pass next to us, as she doesn't care what we asked. is not nice, innit? And I can understand that all guys were busy, the venue was full and people arrived from everywhere asking a table, so we can wait. We waited, thinking at one moment someone pass through us. Not at all. At that point, we felt obblige to leave the venue, nobody ask if we want something else, not even the bill. We paid (good price for the location), I said to a waiter I haven't found cool that, and his answer "désolé" between sarcasm and arrogance, just to get rid of us upset me, not even try to fix...

EDIT AFTER REPLY from the hostess: While a miscommunication could have occurred, the tone of the reply to my customer review tells you everything you need to know about the quality of the service.

Very different from all other restaurants around. The hostess and service overall were terrible in terms of attitude and attention to customer. The meat had to be sent back to be cooked as originally asked. It came back chewy and still undercooked. Very disappointing! The only restaurant so far in Biarritz I would not recommend...
