Great modern wine bar which utilizes the electronic, self serve card system. They'll provide you with a car with €30 on it to start. They have an extensive library of wines which you can choose to have either a small taste, half glass, or full glass pour. They did a good job with the variety of price-points for the wines, which enables you to try something that's a bit more expensive than you may not get to otherwise. The staff all speak English and are very helpful. We order a mixed meat and cheese plate, and when we didn't care for the pork pate, they exchanged it for more salami which was nice of them to do. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because the bathroom was a bit gross and I had some difficulty using my card with two particular slots on the machine, which the staff member acknowledged was not user error, but rather the machine is just testy.
Overall, I definitely recommend Aux quatre coins du vin to other travelers and hope readers will find my review and photos...
Read moreGreat concept but lack of quality in wines, therefore would not recommend for true wine enthusiasts. It's nice to be able to select the amount of wine between 30 ml and 120ml and having a big selection of open bottles. However you really only get the exact amount from the machine whereas in other bars you often get more because of the human serving. But that's not the problem, it is the lack in quality of wines. Yes, there are really good ones but for a high price per glass. The entry level ones unfortunately lack quality and you would expect quite the opposite from a dedicated wine bar. The challenge for a good wine bar is to present good quality and interesting wines beginning with the most affordable ones. You can get that at other places where of course you do pay more but also get much more in your glass. So nothing wrong with this bar, but just not living up to expectations of serius wine...
Read moreThis is a great place and well worth a visit. There seem to be about 24-30 wines for tasting at any given time. You get a card with €30 credit on it and the machine deducts from it as you select your tastings (in 3 sizes or amounts); then you only pay for what you used. Our favorite actually was not the wines on tap but the giant bottle of Baron Legrande Armagnac that sits on the bar (with a giant bottle of cognac there too). This Armagnac has beautiful aromas; it is gorgeous. There is an extensive wine by the bottle list and liqueur list, so ask for the menu. Also ask the staff for advice. They were all super friendly. I did not get everyone’s name, but Colline was wonderfully nice to us and helped us also buy a bottle of Armagnac from them, which we are taking back home with us. A big thank you to all the team. We came three nights while in Bordeaux. They also play some...
