I went here with my wife for our last dinner in Bordeaux as part of our vacation based on two strong recommendations. You do need a booking so call ahead. The restaurant is in a gorgeous old building alongside Place de of Bourse which dates back to 1730. The tables were all outside and it was a beautiful night so that was a great start. The wine selections are mostly from the region (Medoc, Saint Emilion, etc) so you can’t go wrong and the prices are fair. We started by splitting a Caesar Salad which was huge and includes the normal anchovies, but it also came with chicken. The salad was not great and the chicken was red/pink in the middle.
The main courses were another story and were prefect. My wife had the beef tartare and it was a large portion and as good as she has had. I had the langostino risotto and it was amazing with several large pieces of meat.
Another opportunity for Gabriel is the bread offering as it was not tasty.
All in all I highly recommend Gabriel for the view, the wine, and the...
Read moreThe worst Michelin restaurant we have ever been to. We were eventually shown to our table half an hour late. We were told to sit outside and have a drink - NO ONE CAME TO TAKE OUR DRINK ORDER! When asked what was happening told to wait another 2 minutes. Finally shown to our table. Starter was cold, egg was not cooked. Main good, cheese plate selection poor only two cheeses in FRANCE!! The Manager asked how our food was, when we told him about the starter we did not get an apology. Nor were we offered a drink on the house for having to wait half an hour for our reserved table. Instead we were charged for service. The whole experience from start to finish was appalling. On top of this we had the constant smell of cleaning spray when they cleaned the tables which distorted the taste of food and the toilets had no soap and were filthy dirty. Their Michelin Star needs...
Read moreGood food not worth 70 euros per person with not even a mantelpiece. Priced as a michelin star awarded restaurnt facing the Eiffel Tower. Despite the fact that there was a 35 euro menu per person, the waiter did not bother to warn us that he was serving exactly the same food but ordered as independent starters (1) and mains (2). Supposedly in bigger portions (the portions were reasonable, so probably the menu ones were scarce). Hence the bill came twice the expected. Similarly, we ordered a glass of prosecco to make a toast, to then realise that a pretty simple bubbly was priced at 9 euros the glass. The views are just fine, you can enjoy the same sights from the street. Furhter, awful disco music in the back ground did not help to enhance the environment. Certainly not worth it for the price, treat and ok views. Felt like a tourist...
