PAPILLON — Restaurant in Bordeaux

We where staying in an apartment in Chartrons and came across this bar when walking along the river front.

We visited 4 time and each time was excellent. The team speak great English and despite my bad French. First time was on our first day where we were looking for something light to eat and we saw that they had 2 for 1 tacos on Tuesdays. The tacos where excellent, the staff even got nachos for us that where not on the menu that day.

Most of the other times we stopped for cocktails as it was very hot in Bordeaux when we where there. The cocktails where delicious and honour their classical tiki routes.

This is a "California-Inspired" Tiki Bar. I am from California. Born and Raised. I have been to many Tiki Bars in my life time, from Tiki Tom's in Walnut Creek to Smuggler's Cove in San Francisco.

While Bordeaux is the Wine Mecca of the world, this is the place to go if you want some excellent cocktails. The vibes are immaculate. The owner is incredible. My friends and I tried over 7 different drinks... and in the words of Drake, "All Hits, NO MISSES, that's for the married folks", every single drink was absolutely amazing.

Super petit bar situé le long de la Garonne sur le Quai des Chartrons à hauteur de l'arrêt "CAPC Musée d'Art Contemporain" du tram B. Ambiance très cool dans une déco originale de style esprit californien. Deuxième séjour bordelais, et j'ai passé trois débuts de soirées apéro très agréables. La troisième ponctuée d'un repas tapas. On est servi par deux, voire trois, jeunes garçons très sympathiques, n'hésitant pas à entamer la conversation ce qui ajoute un plus à l'atmosphère détendue de l''établissement. Ces barmen vous servent avec dextérité de délicieux cocktails parmi un choix déjà assez élevé (une vingtaine) parfois dans des verres très originaux. On peut y déguster aussi un bon verre de vin (heureusement car on est à Bordeaux quand même) même si ce n'est pas la spécialité de la maison. Un petit creux, alors quelques bonnes tapas à la mexicaine satisferont vos papilles et votre appétit, certaines pouvant être copieuses. Une belle (re) découverte. Si vous êtes en promenade le long de la Garonne, n'hésitez pas à traverser la route et les voies du tramway pour y faire une petite halte. Un endroit à découvrir ou à fréquenter sans...
