Novembre 2013.
November 2013. Really unpleasant service: we were made to sit at the terrace, regardless of the pouring rain. We ordered a starter for two people (€22) and two beers but then the waiter asked us to order something else. We said that we only wanted a starter and he replied that we couldn't jsut order tapas and that it was necessary to order something else.
We retorted that there was nothing of the sort indicated on the menu and what we'd ordered was a starter, not tapas. He took our order anyway and disappeared.
A little later, we received our food and beers. It was rather good and the beers were nice and frosty. :)
Once finished, we asked the other waiter for the bill, given that the first one wasn't very welcoming... except that the second guy was even worse! He shouted so much that the other customers began turning round!
He repeated the same thing, that we had to order something else, that this wasn't a tapas bar, etc. We responded the same thing: that this distinction was not on the menu and that his bullying (because it was!) towards customers was appalling and he was downright rude. He then told us that we weren't going to start teaching him his job, etc, etc. He was like a dog with a bone: he just wouldn't let go and had to have the final word.
But we do have a thing or two to teach him about his job! He really needs to review his approach to customer service - it simply isn't done to shout at people, even if the manager has bizarre ideas on what people may or may not order. And even if there are only two waiters and they are overworked, if they cannot keep their cool, they need to change their line of work!
A big fat F. Do not go there. Unless you like being bullied.
P.S: We live in Paris so we know a thing or two about rude customer service. Didn't expect in Bordeaux, though... :(
P.P.S: the upshot is that they probably got another couple of customers after we left who ordered a full meal. If we'd stayed for a full meal they wouldn't have had time for another full service. So they got their money...
Read moreAwful! My husband and I went for dinner and had the rudest waiter. I wasn’t feeling well and didn’t have an appetite so I didn’t order a meal but my husband ordered the carbonara. Right off the bat, the waiter was deeply annoyed we were only ordering one dish. I am aware this irritates French servers but I also cannot help that I wasn’t feeling well and my husband still needed dinner. We also got the affogato dessert which he served so late that ALL the ice cream had melted and the flavors tasted bad in general. Not only was our server rude, but he went out of his way to avoid our table during the entire meal and especially up until we needed the check. He clearly was getting a kick out of dodging us and finally after waiting a ridiculous amount of time and watching him purposefully avoid us, my husband went to him to get the bill. We wasted a lot of time waiting for this guy and I wish we would’ve realized what he was...
Read moreGreat location, busy, good selection to eat and/or drink We visited one night pre-dinner. It was pretty busy and we sat outside under the awning. We sat for a few minutes before someone came to take or drinks order, which was a little longer than we'd experienced in other bars close by. That said, the drinks came out fairly quickly. Quite a good selection and reasonable prices for what we had. We were just having the 1 drink before heading out for dinner so I asked to pay as soon as the drinks came out, as i didn't want to have to wait given we were on a tight schedule. The waiter seemed a little surprised but we paid by card - he hovered a while (I assume for a tip) which was a bit cheeky. We had our drinks, enjoyed the ambience and as we left for dinner put a tip on the table - so he got one anyway! Everyone around seemed to be enjoying themselves so looks like a good place to visit if you are in this part...
