Le Jardin De La Tour du Plô — Restaurant in Carcassonne

The restaurant is well-located. The entrance is very untidy, it is not a good image for the customers whatsoever.

They took our order and the entrée took like 15 min to get there. We first order the foie dish for 25€, which is a joke: Only two pieces of foie and they forgot the bread, we had to wait for another 10 min until they could bring the bread..... then less than 5 minutes for the salad, which was kind of dry (they did not even bring oil or vinager) but had good quality products and was alright. Finally, we waited for around 20 minutes for the 3 casoulettes to arrive... my canard (duck) was not overcooked, it was literally BURNT!! (image attached). So as I was eating it, the burnt parts of the outer layer started to fall into the casoulette.... AWFUL experience.

And finally.... the dessert. It took us 2 hours to have lunch all in all, so when dessert came they told us that they did not have any Îlle Flottante left (they should have accounted for ours because we ordered them right away when we first sat on the table). So we say okay, can we have at least the cookie with the "crème anglaise" to what the waiter sais no way, only 2 cups of ice.... It was just one bad feeling after another.

From the moment we arrived, we had doubts — restaurants in heavily touristic areas often neglect quality. We don’t mind paying a higher price for the location, but if you charge that much, the food should at least meet basic standards. Here, it’s obvious the only goal is to take money from tourists, with zero care for offering decent cuisine.

When the food arrived, we looked at each other instantly, realizing we were being ripped off — this was a scam. The cheese and cold cuts platter looked like it came straight from cheap supermarket packs, bland and grossly overpriced. The second dish, prawns with rice and salad, was even worse: salad served as whole leaves with barely any dressing, and prawns raw inside, possibly not fresh. We ended up with stomach aches shortly after.

No quality, no care, no respect for the customer — just a blatant tourist trap serving low-grade food at outrageous prices.

And regarding the owner’s response: No, I’m not mistaken about the restaurant. It’s a shame they don’t want to improve in response to criticism. My recommendation:...

Bonjour, Nous nous y sommes rendus mardi. Nous avons été installés rapidement dans le jardin plutôt agréable alors que nous n’avions pas de réservation (4 adultes + 1 enfant) vers midi. “Un souci étant survenu en cuisine” notre commande a été prise après une légère attente par notre serveur très sympa et courtois, aucun souci nous sommes en vacances… 3 menus entrée+plat+dessert et 2 plats à la carte (2 hamburgers) Nos boissons (2 diabolos et 1 verre de vin) sont rapidement arrivées, un peu d’attente encore pour avoir les entrées des menus, et 1h après avoir fini nos entrées toujours pas de suite, alors que les tables autour de nous (même celles arrivées après) étaient toutes en train de manger… A 13h45 toujours rien, notre serveur qui essaie de voir ce qu’il se passe mais nos estomacs crient famine (surtout que 2 d’entre nous dont un enfant pour rappel n’ont pas eu d’entrée donc rien avalé) nous décidons donc de quitter le restaurant. Après l’avoir signalé à notre serveur et à sa responsable, qui décide tout de même de nous faire régler les 10€ de boissons (même si je pense qu’un geste commercial d’excuse aurait été le bienvenu), soit. À l’encaissement nous nous sommes faits engueuler par le gérant? Le responsable de salle? Peu importe, une personne qui n’a aucun sens du service à la clientèle parce que je cite “si vous êtes pressés faut pas commander des menus”, “ah mais ils ont mangé ils ont eu les entrées !!” Et que “vous avez eu les entrées, la suite aurait fini par arriver”. Bref, un scandale en bonne et due forme devant la responsable qui essayait de lui dire qu’ils verraient ce qu’il s’est passé en cuisine plus tard, sans succès ! J’imagine que s’il avait pu nous mettre dehors à coups de pieds il l’aurait fait… Je ne vous recommande absolument pas, on y mange peut être bien ? Nous ne saurons jamais.
