If you're looking for a unique citadel experience this is it! The terrace is on a tiny narrow street that is busy during the day but in the evening it gets more quiet (coincidentally that is when they open up for dinner - 7pm). We didn't sit inside as we were a bigger group (8 people, some smokers) but from what we could see, the atmosphere inside is also medieval tavern - like. The food was tasty! Some of us got cassoulet (good, quite filling, would not recommend getting any other entrees if you plan on ordering it), others got the octopus (cooked pretty good, wasn.t chewy at all!), some got the druck breast (was really moist, duck fat cooked properly, wasn't chewy at all!) and others got the fried quail (delicious!). Only comment I would make is - if you don't like curry, ask the waitress if there. s any in the recipe as we got the purees for the duck/quail/octopus with curry in them (and it somewhat overshadowed the meats, unfortunately). Overall it was a good experience! Would...
Read moreJust had a super Sunday lunch in Carcassone on a poor day weather wise. The place was packed which is always a good sign with mainly French diners. More people seemed to have the a la carte choices but I enjoyed the set menu for € 26. Good choice of starters and main courses plus sweet off the menu so you could easily judge how good a deal the set meal is. I had the cassoulet which was really filling and tasty - local dish presented piping hot. I would have no hesitation in recommending this to anyone who wants a typical regional meal and not one you'd get in your home town/country assuming you're not a local. Will look forward to returning and sampling more of their menu plus their wines. The staff were very friendly and attentive even with the odd awkward customer who didn't understand that they were really busy. You know them, the kind of people who complain about everything without...
Read moreIn a medieval city made famous at the time of the fourth crusade of knights in 1200 AD, there are many streets and buildings that shows signs of this extensive history. The Rue Saint-Louis is just such a street and this restaurant a perfect place to stop and take on supplies of food and drink. The cassoulet is cooked well with good flavours. They have a menu of the day that offers fish and meat. You can also order pizzas. Though tourists may sit immediately downstairs, there is in the back, a narrow staircase leading to an upstairs restaurant with its tapestry decorated walls of scenes from the past and old looking wooden tables attended by comfortable chairs. With pleasant background music and bringing good company, you will enjoy the respite from the crowds at Le Restaurant au...
