Le Trouvere — Restaurant in Carcassonne

Carcassonne is beautiful and a place that could be a paradise in terms of history, but if it weren't for the rude and arrogant people who live there and make a business of it, exploiting the thousands of tourists who are looking for good support and service in terms of hospitality. This particular restaurant, like most of the ones inside the city walls, is not recommended in general. The people are unfriendly, no one speaks English or attempts to understand any other language other than French. They don't care about being friendly or serving tourists. The food is very bad, without seasoning and lack of variation, as well as not allowing us to ajust to our food intolernces which is not implying alot. The service is terrible. They throw cutlery and glasses at the table and turn their backs when we order or ask if somethinf is possibke. They say that they only serve what is on the menu which would be acceptable if they were willing to make small changes to adapt to us. Not only this but they managed to have no food left at 11:00 am even though they started serving at 10:10am and only had 4 costumers. They are not friendly or flexible at all and created a tense enviroment for us. A terrible experience in terms of hospitality and customer service.

Carcassonne est une ville magnifique et un endroit qui pourrait être un paradis en termes d'histoire, mais si ce n'était pas pour les gens grossiers et arrogants qui y vivent et en font un commerce, exploitant les milliers de touristes qui recherchent un bon soutien et un bon service en termes d'hospitalité. Ce restaurant en particulier, comme la plupart de ceux à l'intérieur des murs de la ville, n'est pas recommandé en général. Les gens sont hostiles, personne ne parle anglais ou n'essaie de comprendre une autre langue que le français. Ils ne se soucient pas d'être amicaux ou de servir les touristes. La nourriture est très mauvaise, sans assaisonnement et sans variété, et ne nous permet pas de nous adapter à nos intolérances alimentaires, ce qui n'implique pas grand-chose. Le service est terrible. Ils jettent des couverts et des verres sur la table et tournent le dos lorsque nous commandons ou demandons si quelque chose est possible. Ils disent qu'ils ne servent que ce qui est sur le menu, ce qui serait acceptable s'ils étaient prêts à faire de petits changements pour s'adapter à nous. Non seulement cela, mais ils ont réussi à ne plus avoir de nourriture à 11h00 alors qu'ils avaient commencé à servir à 10h10 et qu'ils n'avaient que 4 clients. Ils ne sont pas du tout amicaux ni flexibles et ont créé une atmosphère tendue pour nous. Une expérience terrible en termes d'hospitalité et de service client.

Carcassonne es un lugar precioso y que podría ser un paraíso en cuanto a historia, pero si no fuera por la gente maleducada y arrogante que vive allí y hace negocio de ello, explotando a los miles de turistas que buscan un buen trato y servicio en cuanto a hospitalidad. Este restaurante en concreto, como la mayoría de los que hay dentro de las murallas de la ciudad, no es recomendable en general. La gente es antipática, nadie habla inglés ni intenta entender ningún otro idioma que no sea el francés. No les importa ser amables ni atender a los turistas. La comida es muy mala, sin condimentar y sin variedad, además de no dejarnos adaptar a nuestras intolerancias alimentarias lo que no es dar muchas pistas. El servicio es pésimo. Tiran cubiertos y vasos a la mesa y se dan la espalda cuando pedimos o preguntamos si hay algo posible. Dicen que sólo sirven lo que hay en el menú lo que sería aceptable si estuvieran dispuestos a hacer pequeños cambios para adaptarse a nosotros. No solo eso, sino que se las arreglaron para que no quedara comida a las 11:00 a. m., a pesar de que comenzaron a servir a las 10:10 a. m. y solo tenían 4 clientes. No son amigables ni flexibles en absoluto y crearon un ambiente tenso para nosotros. Una experiencia terrible en términos de hospitalidad y...

We are diabetic and felt the need to eat something quick and light. We went into the Trouvere and had the croque monsieur with salad. We informed the waiter to wrap the left-over half sandwich in aluminum foil. He nodded his head and replied yes. Within seconds we received the menu...(?) Then another waiter, tall and skinny with an attitude came to see what we needed. We explained that we were waiting for the other half of our sandwiches to be foiled wrapped. In a condescending manner he informed us that a change of waiters had occurred and the sandwiches had been thrown away in the garbage. We replied, the waiter is there, standing behind you. Adding offense to the matter was the excuse that they did not speak English well...(?) As a lifetime educator and retired manager, the staff needs mentoring! It is ABOUT the custumer, not the pretentious waiter with a red stripe mariniere. We eat and spend OUR money in your establishment, don't insult our intelligence. Just educate yourself to be better or go work...

One star because they do not close the kitchen at 14:00 h, food is OK but nothing special. Worst service in France and that is to say the least. I feel bad for owner as this place has potential to become a good decent place to eat, maybe even 3-4 stars but the service is honestly the worse I have seen in France in 12 years. I know we are all tourist and most will never come back, but we are paying you above the norm prices and we would like the attention and smiles you expect from someone that is working there. I normally leave a 15% tip everywhere I go, this time I left cero. I am sorry, I just didn't want to say anything because I had my family with me and tried to avoid altercation plus you were the only restaurant serving after your strict french lunch schedule.
