My partner and I arrived in Eguisheim during the time of a busy wine festival unbeknownst to us. We had been advised that parking was available even though cars are frowned upon in the center of the village. Due to the influx of visitors and tour buses for the festival, as well as our uncertainty as to the exact location of our hotel; I left him along one of the interior roads and struck off with two bags to the hotel. Eguisheim is a quant, lovely town; however, the circular streets were a bit disorientating to me. When I finally located the hotel I went to the front desk to check in. It was 2:50 p.m. The proprietress eventually came to the desk and in a saccharine sweet voice told me that I had arrived too early for my room and would have to come back later. She sent me back out the door with the two bags in hand. Unfortunately, I had left the confirmation in the car. When I eventually found my way back to our car I reviewed my confirmation that clearly stated a 2:00 p.m. check in time. We carefully worked our little car through the village to a spot where we could unload. This time; shortly after 3:00 p.m. she greeted us as though she'd never seen me before. We unloaded our bags and then parked the car outside the village in a large municipal lot. Later, after the crowds died down we were able to move the car a bit closer. The next day I got very sick. We pushed through sight seeing in the Alsace region and returned to the hotel very weary that night. At 7:10 we stopped again at the desk and asked if we could order something from the adjoining restaurant. "Did you make a reservation?" No, we did not. "I'm sorry, we cannot serve you." I went straight up to bed while my partner searched for a place to buy me something to eat. There are not a lot of options in this town. Be prepared. He found nothing open. I went to bed sick and hungry. Several things could have made this a better experience: an email prior to arrival letting us know about the festival and lack of parking and related congestion, honoring the check-in time ensured in our reservation, and information regarding the need for reservations at the hotel restaurant could have been provided at the time...

Read moreWe came to Eguisheim to stock up on some wine and also to enjoy a good lunch. Found this place online with good feedback. So I made a call for a reservation. A smart move, since the place was fully booked (on a monday!). Our table was waiting for us.
Got as requested a table outside in the side alley. Very comfy - we liked it.
Service/owners were great. Really friendly, made us feel very welcome. Our Bulldog was welcome as well.
Chose a slice of Foie Gras mi-cuit and the escargots for starters. Both great choices. The Foie Gras of high quality with a great Mirabelle chutney on the side. The perfect match. The escargots were nice, buttery and garlicy. Nice sized escargots.
For the mains we've had the Les Cuisses de Grenouilles - frog legs in Riesling sauce with noodles on the side. Excellent dish, great and creamy sauce. The other choice was the La Fricassée de Pieds et de Joues de Porc à l’Ancienne. Wonderful dish - pork feet and cheeks. Cooked to perfection. A glass of Riesling and a glass of golden Pinot Gris went well with both meals.
A really good, authentic restaurant with a great cook and kitchen. Good quality food, cooked perfectly. And for fair prices. We will definitely be back...
