Eguisheim — Attraction in Colmar-Ribeauvillé

Eguisheim, just a quick 15-minute drive from Colmar, turned out to be one of those places you just don’t regret adding to your day trip list. We visited on a fresh spring morning, and honestly, the first thing that caught our attention was the storks nesting right on the rooftops – it’s something this little village is known for, and it really gives it such a unique vibe. The whole place is arranged in a circular shape, which makes it easy and fun to wander without worrying you’ll miss something. We found ourselves strolling through the winding alleys lined with brightly painted half-timbered houses and ended up at a small pizzeria in one of the side streets – highly recommend grabbing a table early or making a booking if it’s busy, because spots fill up fast. The Château de Saint-Léon and its fountain in the main square are perfect for a quick photo stop, and if you’re into wine, you’ll love the local tasting rooms showcasing the village’s well-known vineyards like Eichberg and Pfersigberg. We drove there and parked at Parking de la Mairie, which is just outside the pedestrian area and super convenient. Aber nur die Schönheit alleine ist es nicht, was Eguisheim diese besondere Anziehungskraft verleiht. Es ist auch die mit dem Ort verbundene Geschichte, die bis ins 9 Jh zurückgeht und sogar einen Papst hervorbrachte sowie die Art und Weise, wie dieser Ort seine Geschichte lebt und sich weiter entwickelt, ohne sich komplett vom alten zu trennen. Die wunderschönen Fachwerkhäuser, die heute in bunten Farben erstrahlen sind nur ein Beispiel dafür.

Der Ort ist komplett rund angelegt, sodass die zusammenhängenden Fachwerkhäuser eine Art Schutzwall bilden. Im Dorfzentrum von Eguisheim befindet sich eine Burg mit oktogonalem Grundriss - die einen nicht mehr vorhanden ebenso achteckigen Bergfried besaß, auf dessen Fundament sich heute eine Kapelle befindet - die vermutlich zur ersten Hälfte des 13 Jh erbaut wurde, obwohl in einigen Quellen, welche jedoch nicht schlüssig sind, ein älteres Datum erwähnt wird. Très joli village, parmi les plus beaux de France. Nous sommes venus car celui-ci est l'un des villages ayant inspiré celui de Belle, dans le dessin animé de la Belle et la Bête ! Avec ma fille nous nous y sommes crus ! Ces maisons colorées pleines de charme, les nombreux nids de cigognes et de celles-ci volant au-dessus de nous dans ces rues pavées, un rêve d'enfant éveillé.

Seul bémol, peut-être car c'est l'hiver ? Je ne sais pas, les ouvertures des restaurants. Quasiment aucun restaurant d'ouvert à 14h, donc pas de choix de restauration, heureusement "Le Château Fleuri", sert de merveilleuses Flammekueche uniquement et permet de s'y restaurer 'tardivement'.
