If there was a minus, i would have given that rating. We went there for dinner as a family of 3 (with my husband & my toddler) but unfortunately we had the worst experience in terms of hospitality. The guy who was serving food & taking orders was very very unprofessional & throwing unnecessary tantrums. First, he asked us to vacate the table that we were originally seated on & moved us to a smaller table. We moved upon his request but we were facing difficulty in managing on that table. When i asked him what time are you expecting your guests for the other table which he said was reserved, his reply was ‘Why are you angry, I am here to serve food not to pamper you’ We politely asked him to answer our question & he started misbehaving with me & my husband. We told him we don’t appreciate this tone & can speak with the manager instead. He replied, “I am the ……. owner’ He used unethical word.

Such staff with 0 hospitality should not be hired & not allowed to serve customers.

Hospitality & Warm welcome is the first step for any indian restaurant.

P.S: He was also talking very loudly & rudely on call with one of his staff members / colleagues & was using degraded tone with him in hindi language.

Such people who don’t have etiquette to talk & can’t respect the atmosphere of the place should not be the face of the restaurant dealing with public. He didn’t have any decency to mind his language when we were sitting right infront of him specially with the toddler .

The words he was using with his chef/staff for the other colleague before making the call were very derogatory.

We don’t know the name of this fellow but he was speaking fluent hindi, middle aged man, with little beard & was looking a bit on fat side, taking orders &...

We went to Sartaj resturant recently to have lunch for my brother's birthday. Our experience has been super great and the credit goes to Mr. Pankaj sharma (the owner). He made it so nice, homely and comfortable for us, that our day was so memorable in Dijon. We will always remember the hospitality he gave us and served us with so much love. It is no doubt that this is an authentic Indian restaurant and not a fake one like many others in France which do not have Indian owners or Indian staff preparing the food. The chef Mr. Shivam is also so talented and has a very indian taste to his hands while preparation. The food was fully according to our taste. We ordered a midi meal with dal, one butter paneer and one paneer masala and few naans and thanks to the kindness of Pankaj Bhai, he offered us complimentary things too with a cute halwa cake for my brother's birthday. We went out of the restaurant really touched with his gestures and can surely say that this is the BEST place we've been to in France. I went personally to many indian restaurants but never met any Indian owner. TOTALLY RECOMMEND IN EVERYTHING! No tacky interiors like many other Indian restaurants, so subtle looking, amazing food and they also cater to your taste buds, if you like spicy, you just have to ask Pankaj Bhai and you'll have it. I don't have the option of 6/5 stars so I'm giving 5/5 :) Pankaj Bhai if you're reading this, we had the best time at your restaurant, may you have many others like this and specially in the west of France so we can visit and may you be blessed with the best! Thankyou for making our day in Dijon...

I have gone to many many Indian restaurants in all of Europe even in small unknown towns in germany and I have never given even 3 star or below to any restaurant but to this one I give minus if possible .. If you are a tourist this is a trap I kindly request you to avoid this place, service is unpredictable and random ... Visiting this place actually spoiled our mood on our short trip in Dijon ! Went here thinking it was the best indian restaurant as it was rated highly but very disappointed.

Ambience and food is average at most, they also didn't have menu meal available, and they tried to upsell the double menu meals that costs more but we refused that .. ..Maybe they can sell this to unsuspecting people with a fake smile but don't be mistaken by this facade ....

At the end The billing guy made us wait 15 mins unnecessarily and both waiters made excuses that bill could not be generated while I could see he was busy cleaning dirty glasses, while outside it had just stopped raining so we're eager to go out before it started raining again but they do not value your time ..then we saw 3 people being billed (who finished after us) and it was then I asked what this nonsense is and should we leave without paying then only apologetically they got the bill and we FINALLY got out of this place !

We went to place nearby after this restaurant and had a good time there with bartenders and people who worked there, who went extra mile and even made special cocktails and food not on the menu, and that saved our trip...

Got it! Here's a description of Sartaj Restaurant Indien: "Sartaj Restaurant Indien, nestled in the heart of Dijon at 42 Rue Berbisey, offers a delightful culinary journey through the flavors of India. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with warm hospitality and an inviting ambiance that sets the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. The menu boasts a tantalizing array of authentic Indian dishes, each meticulously prepared with fresh ingredients and traditional spices. Whether you're a fan of rich and creamy curries, fragrant biryanis, or fiery tandoori specialties, Sartaj has something to satisfy every palate. Standout dishes include their butter chicken, bursting with flavors of tomato, cream, and aromatic spices, and their tender lamb rogan josh, simmered to perfection in a rich gravy. Vegetarian options abound, with delectable choices like paneer tikka masala and dal makhani showcasing the versatility of Indian cuisine. Pair your meal with a refreshing mango lassi or a soothing cup of masala chai for the perfect culinary experience. With its impeccable service, charming ambiance, and mouthwatering dishes, Sartaj Restaurant Indien is a true gem for lovers of Indian cuisine in Dijon." I would share some pictures

Very tasty food here. We had the chicken samosa, which had a nice flavour and I enjoyed them - it was a bit of a surprise as I was expecting the usual pieces of potato (sorry no photo). for mains we had butter chicken (my wife absolutely loved this dish) and lamb vindaloo. The vindaloo did not have a chilli on the menu representing a spicy dish but I was asked how spicy I would like it. Extremely tasty food in nice surroundings. The only negative was that the water provided had been in the fridge way too long and tasted shocking.

Best Indian food I have had in a while. I came with my family and we were all impressed with the amazing taste of the food. Also a good variety of options for vegetarians! I recommend the samosas and fried veggies as a starter. Staff spoke good english and helped by translating the ingredients from french to english for some dishes, as well as pointing out which of the dishes were vegetarian. The restaurant has a luxurious looking style when it comes to the furniture and decoration. Toilets and everything clean.
