It’s been a few days since I left Antibes but I’m still in love with the memories of this restaurant. I spent an evening there twice, but I wish it was more - in my mind I’m quietly trying to figure out when can I come back and try the rest of the menu. Everything we tried was fantastic, everything we saw carried by looked fantastic. Easily the best meals I’ve ever had. And may be some of the best wine. And absolutely the best service. The place has a unique charm, with tables in the street amidst the hustle and bustle, all the noises and smell of the sea (and fish, yes, it’s a sea food restaurant/shop during daytime, the smell is quite justified and does not in any way spoil the experience, in fact it somehow adds to it). The ambiance is lovely, the tables are laid out quite tightly but watching the stuff skillfully maneuver around them is a show and entertainment in itself. Despite the restaurant being quite full both times we visited, we did not feel forgotten or abandoned by the stuff for one minute, the wait for service and food was very reasonable, we did not even really notice it. As someone who sadly does not speak French one bit and someone who does not know much about fish, I was beyond satisfied with the explanation and advice provided by the lovely guys serving us. They were all charm and friendliness. I like the idea of trying a different restaurant on each day when on holiday, to explore as much as possible, get some variety and new experiences, however after dining there once every other option we considered the next day lacked something and we ended up circling back to Mer Sea, immediately immersed back into a happy atmosphere as soon as seated. Next time I’m in Antibes I plan to eat there until I’m completely and utterly sick of fish and only after I’ll go somewhere else for some meat maybe - I recommend you...
Read moreDining at Mer Sea was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment they arrived with the visual menu, we knew we were in for something special. We ordered a stunning seafood plate that included fresh oysters, succulent king crab legs, and a generous serving of caviar, without question, some of the best we've ever had in our lives!
One of the highlights was the tuna tartare with passion fruit. It was a delightful surprise with an elegant balance of flavors with a presentation that was absolutely picture-perfect.
The service was impeccable throughout the evening. We were warmly welcomed with a glass of champagne, and the beautiful bottle of rosé suggested by the owner complemented our meal perfectly. It’s rare to find hospitality and attention to detail at this level.
Just when we thought the experience couldn't get any better, dessert arrived and it was truly superb! Being in France, expectations are naturally high when we go out for dinner but Mer Sea exceeded them. Every bite was a reminder of why French cuisine are world-renowned.
If you're in Antibes and love seafood, Mer Sea is a must-visit. It’s a place where every element—from the food and wine to the ambiance and service—is carefully curated to deliver a stellar dining...
Read moreShould be 0, not even 1 star. I was there with my mother (89 years) today, as she wished to eat where she had good memories of eating with my father over years many years ago. She asked very kindly in french if they still had moules frites and got a rough and very condescending reply from the waiter that if we want that we should practically piss off elsewhere. We had already bought a bottle of still water before ordering food & wine and then decided to leave to eat somewhere else. We paid 8 euro for the bottle of Evian still water. I wanted to at least bring the bottle of water with us but the waiter would not let me, claiming they "would have to pay 2 euros more for the bottle if I kept it". Stay, stay, stay away. Do not support this place. There are so many other better places to eat in Antibes. This was a terrible experience for us and this is the first time in my life I write a review like this.
