NEW THE ARTISTE — Restaurant in Grasse

I chose this restaurant due to its high ratings, but unfortunately, it turned out to be the most disappointing part of my trip to France.

I felt that the service I received was markedly different from that of other patrons. The older lady serving us seemed to treat me with indifference, while she was warm and attentive to a white couple nearby. For example, she offered them a paper fan to cope with the heat, but I was overlooked entirely. It was disheartening to witness such a disparity in treatment.

In the end, the old lady handed us another bill that seemed to be for a full dinner set (another Asian table), even though I only ordered a pancake. I'm not sure if this was intentional or a mistake.

While the food was decent, the overall experience left me feeling uncomfortable and diminished, which affected my enjoyment of the trip. It’s unfortunate that I felt this way, and I hope the restaurant can address these issues...

While driving from Nice to Aix-en-Provence, we stopped in Saint-Paul-de-Vence for a few hours. We stumbled across The Artiste while exploring the town and I am glad we did. It is on a side alley off the main pedestrian street. Its seating is in a cool covered passageway which was a nice respite from the warm day. While it doesn't have the view that some other establishments in town offer, the charm of the seating area more than made up for that.

During our trip to France, we visited a wonderful café that left us with nothing but positive impressions. We ordered a galette with chicken, a salad with jamón and warm goat cheese, along with tea and beer. Every dish was incredibly delicious, thoughtfully prepared, and beautifully presented.

The galette impressed us with its delicate texture and flavorful filling, while the salad stood out with its exquisite combination of ingredients.
