Schebell — Restaurant in Grasse

We came to schebell on a couples’ night out. We wanted something different from the hundreds of French traditional touristy restaurants. And it did not disappoint! First the location is right at the very top of the rue du suquet, perfect after watching the sunset from the Royal Fort. Then comes the classy and delicately chosen dishware and place settings. Then comes the friendly and attentive service throughout the meal. And then comes the food… already a short menu which tells you from the jump that everything is probably prepared with care. And then the first plates arrive and oh my god the food! I love Asian food, and I hadn’t had a meal this good in a long time, Asian or otherwise. We had the nems, gyoza, ramen and Korean ribs. Everything was truly perfect, from the presentation to the delicately balanced flavors with just the right amount of spice, to the perfectly marinated eggs in the ramen and the amazingly tender ribs, marinated for a full 24 hours. Having lunch here, at Schebell, was my most delicate experience during my travel to Cannes this May 2023. I had oyster, rib steak, and a glass of white wine. everything was perfect. and the steak is perfectly cooked medium rare, although i didn't tell to the waiter what preference was (as it is the norm in my home country to tell the waiter if whether we'd like our steak rare/medium/well-done), and it came out medium rare as i like it! then i asked if they have chili sauce (i know it's silly for European, but for me chili sauce is a must as it could enhance the flavor to the next level). They don't have chili sauce, but they gave a spicy-oil (i don't know what kind of oil) but mama mia! it was so good!!! every bite of the tender meat combined with that spicy-oil, just joyous!! a week later i still remember that experience, having lunch at Schebell. We came here to chill after a long walk with a cool beer in this beautiful restaurant and ended up leaving quite fast because of how uncomfortable the waitress made us feel. She made a racist comment to my Vietnamese partner when we arrived, asking her if she was Chinese because Asian looked all the same, for a restaurant serving Asian food, this is quite sad... The same female waitress was quite rude to another family eating there, refused to take a picture of them, they had to beg and after that she just threw the phone on their table. It was very weird. After that, she started talking to herself all alone, saying weird things in French, "they are all at my feet." Very disturbing experience.
