We arrived arround 12:15 and asked about a table for 2. Only 6 or so already seated. We were told there was no availability until 2 pm so come back then and they would have a table for us. I was going to give them our name but was told that would not be necessary. Odd. We left and checked their website shortly thereafter to find through their reservations link that there was plenty of availability all day. So we booked for 2 shortly there after and returned to the restaurant to show them we now had a reservation which we were arriving for. The hostess then seated us. The resuarant never did fill completely outside and only 1 large tour group showed up later for their set lunch in one of the 2 indoor rooms, where no one else was ever seated while we were there. Very odd and pointless exercise to go through. Quite off putting. The food we order was "good" but nothing remarkable. We had the 2 course 35E p.p. lunch meal. Overall one of our least pleasurable meals during our...
Read moreDelicious food, charming, competent, helpful service in a beautiful location. Very good value for money food wise, wine by the glass less so; chocolate mousse i couldn’t finish - far too big a portion, covered in hazelnuts, which I’m mildly allergic to and presentation it looked awful and I’m afraid caused sniggering at my table! I’m afraid c’è n’était pas de la classe…it seemed like some American-themed dessert, which of course given many of those at Giverny is perhaps the intention… digging past the extras it tasted delicious. Perhaps rethink? Other than that food was wonderful and highly recommend!
Edit to above : I brought a group here - they were at another table. They loved their lunch. But despite one having a nut allergy and staff informed and all being well til the abovenamed dessert, which he also ordered. No one mentioned the hazelnuts to him… be v careful… France where I live throws hazelnuts in everything at the mo as decoration on savoury dishes too. Check...
Read moreThere are place that call you . Bistrot Oscar is that sort of place … to me . First things first, everyone was peaceful, smiling , kind and devoted . Second , the food was delicate , full of flavour and generous . I remember the first bite of my first dish and i will remember it for a long time . I felt all the love, passion and dedication put through the cooking , the chosing of flavour combination . I have expectations when I go to a restaurant because I cook a lot at home , and i always feel the need to be suprised rather then ‘ fed ‘ when I go out. And that is exactly what happened at Oscar . I am extremely grateful to the excellent team , the kindness and simple human connection we felt there .
Now I wish I could go to Le Jardin des Plumes… but it’s out of my budget for the moment .
I never write reviews and I am nowhere on socials . This is a message of pure honesty and gratitude to people who love what they do. It...
