Horrible service!!! Never in my life. Never go there if you want such a rude and horrible service. We were really shocked with my friends . Saturday evening. The blonde lady with blue eyes asked at the entrance how many people we are, we were 3. She was really busy because of a lot of clients but offered the table. After minimum 20 minutes waiting for the menu, we told that we would like to drink and to eat ice-cream. She promised to bring menu for drinks. We were waiting again, after another waiter has understood that we want to drink and the ice cream, and right after that she came to us telling in a very rude way to leave, because it's not possible to stay without eating and just drinking. We asked why then she offered a table without asking if we want to drink or to eat? Normally all the restaurants always ask this at the entrance before offering the place. She didn't answer and started to blame us that it was our responsibility to tell her at the beginning. She told that they are full and she woke up early.. Well, I definitely do not care what personal problems she has, her problems should not be on the client's shoulders. Also it's not a commercial way for the restaurant to refuse people who want take drinks, (to eat ice cream if it was there) and stay 30 minutes before leaving. I higly do not reccomend this place! Rude people, bad mood, smiling on your face and finally it's juste a hypocrisy, it's disgusting. No-one can treat people like this. Bad image of Deauville and French service. Hopefully we have found another good place with polite people.

We've been coming here a long time. This morning I walked out of the newish supposed luxe cafe around the corner from them. I had been seated and had watched a parade of waiters ignore me. I left. Notwithstanding their reviews etc. No sooner had I sat down at L'étoile BOOM someone asked me (with a welcoming smile) what I want and BOOM the coffee and a great pain choc arrived. Nice sun and view of the market action. Highly recommend!

From the moment I stepped into L'étoile, I was transported in a friendly universe where the staff attentive and professional serve delightful aroma of delicious dishes. I highly recommend the "cote de veaux", a standout dish that is a must-try on your next visit to Deauville. I highly suggest you pay a visit to L'etoile without hesitation.

⚠️⛔️AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE

Philosophy of the place: it’s the customer’s fault, we’re here to take your money and abuse you in the process.

Straight out of Victor Hugo’s Les Miserable!

Deauville is such a nice beach town, full of nice little restaurants and friendly people. This was NOT such a place—we should have read Google reviews before going.

We (4 of us) went there early and the restaurant was not even half full. Most of the items on the menu were not available. Our food took forever to arrive—close to an hour.

Since I speak French, I noticed that the owner/manager was berating customers behind their backs in crude language. “Oh he thinks his dish is cold. He can stick it up his… Send it back to the kitchen anyway.” Since we don’t know this blonde lady’s name, I’ll call her Mrs Thenardier—very close to her Les Mis counterpart.

When the food finally arrived, 2 of the 4 dishes were not what we had ordered. In one, “langoustine” (small lobster) pasta became lukewarm pasta with a few mussels!

The young waiter was friendly but embarrassed, couldn’t do much.

When we took it to Mrs Thenardier, she flipped out and became enraged. She called us liars, said she never had problems before—right, read previous reviews.

Her partner tried to calm her down but she kept verbally attacking us. Her eyes were now bulging, she was screaming. She threw her young staff under the bus to try and save her image, painful to watch. She complained that she has been up since the early morning. She said that as customers we should appreciate her work instead of complaining.

No discount, no apologies, she kept hurling insults. We paid and left, appalled by what had just happened.

We do not want to stigmatize mental health issues so we’ll keep some details to ourselves. Suffice to say Mrs Thenardier should get her anger management issues fixed by a professional ASAP or she’ll lose many other customers in the future.

You’ve...
