Dinner in Lyon. 😊 The menu was in French with a bit of English translation in one page out of the whole menu book, which a good sign thag this is not a tourist trap. 😅
We had the Lionese menu (set menu) that includes an appetiser, main, cheese, and dessert. They have 4 group of set menu with different prices. I chose the €20.50 ones, which was the meaty ones, while he had the €18.50 ones, which was the seafood option. 😊
It was not only the yummiest food, but also the best service of a casual restaurant we ever had! The waitress were very friend and very proactive. They even try to explain the food in English even though they're struggling, which was sweet. The place is tiny, but it's cozy. The cheese options were also generous and the dessert was perfect. It was just our perfect dinner in France. 😍
One thing to remember, this place accepts cash and cheque only. No...
Read moreExcellent restaurant and very authentic! The food was amazing, and the experience even better. I went as a solo traveller and the lady at the door (which was very kind) found a place for me even though the place was full. The waiters were caring and efficient, they spoke both English and Spanish on top of French. They always brought more bread (really good bread) or water as soon as I ran out of them, and explained to me all dishes I didn't understand. Food was superb, tasty and cooked with care. Ingredients were of high quality, cooked in a traditional manner. Particularly, I recommend a dessert the house especiallity, an almond praliné cake that was simply excellent. The atmosphere was authentic and made you feel included in Lyon and French culture, from the tables and chairs to the ceiling, and of course with help from the...
Read moreIconic Lyon bouchon We had lunch at this restaurant when we first visited Lyon in May 2014, and we enjoyed it so much that we had a second lunch there on that visit. It was just as good as we remembered all those years ago. The service was good and the prices were still reasonable - €18.50 for a 3 course set menu is terrific). This is not fine dining – it’s French homestyle cooking and if you’re not into the Lyonnaise offal dishes, the menu options shrink. We enjoyed our salade Lyonnaise, lieu (pollock) a la meuniere and pork fillet, followed by tarte aux pralines, and clafoutis aux poires, so much that we came back again. The next day we had another salade Lyonnaise, followed by blanc de poulet (chicken breast) a la crème. No wonder this restaurant has stayed in business...
