This was the single biggest letdown of my life.
My favorite dish is French Onion Soup but i only made it myself, i never ate one "professionally made" so I naturally came here, a good restaurant that a local adviced me to go to. First time In France, I had to do it!
What I find? Diluted tomato soup with undercooked onions, with sourbread instead of white bread and without the charred cheese on top.
The only thing in common with French onion soup was the onions and even them weren't done properly.
Every single aspect that makes French onion soup was missing, it was closer to American tomato soup than anything else.
On the second the sausage sauce was overly salty but passable but at least the creme Brule was really good, I can give em that.
The server even even put the twice the spoon they gave me on the table instead of the napkin to eat the soup and the creme Brule (not even a dessert spoon, a normal spoon)
Then the meal concluded I even said the first phase of the review to the server and I was meet with a "Thank you sir"
It was hilarious.
I paid, left the premise and wrote...
Read moreRecommend by the concierge. Wish I had done a bit of reading before agreeing. Last moment booking. Multiple restaurants on rue Merciere, they seem like tourist traps! Let's discuss the Fiston! Ordered cod fish with butter sauce. The fish was fresh and cooked perfect. However why would the chef put the sauce in a ramekin and not in the dish? The Lyonnais salad again had the dressing on the side! The chicken with the mushroom sauce was insipid the meat very tough and dry, I must say I did see a couple of sickly mushroom in the thick gooey sauce. The burger! Why would the kid order a burger but kids do what they deem best. The meat was under seasoned the taste average and the conversation on the way back to the hotel was maybe we could have gone to the international burger house, eaten what we are familiar with and saved a penny. I strongly suggest if you travel to Lyon you do your homework and book the recommended...
Read moreFrench onion soup - This is not like the baked french onion soup people had in America. The soup is on the sweet side and not hot enough. Personally, I like the flavor, not as salt as many traditional one.
Salad with smoked duck and foie gras - foie gras was very good. Creamy. Smoke duck is very flavorful.
Chicken fillet with mushroom - The mushroom sauce is very good. The potatoes were really good and flavorful. The chicken was a little bit disappointed since it was pretty dry. Surprisingly because it's dark meat, I thought it'll be Lucy and tender but it was dry and tough.
Hiberion pork - very tender, flavorful but on the salty side. Taste like Chinese BBQ pork.
Pasta with truffle ham - Very rich truffle flavor, it uses macaroni, so it's like macaroni and cheese with...
