Just a disaster. Cannot possibly recommend strongly enough to steer clear of this place. Dishes served of raw meat. Not talking about a culturally different approach to cuisine, I mean clearly unhygienic. When 2 of our guests timidly asked for the plate to be cooked a bit more, their dishes were returned burning hot (from being stuffed in the microwave apparently) literally dropped on the table in front of them by the waiter. Was this some sort of candid camera type test to see just how bad service could possibly be (outside of prison perhaps, or a Stalin-esque gulag)? When they cut into the meal again, the meat was still undercooked, simply not edible. Then, it just got worse. Sent the plate back again and just said to forget it, to which the waiters (plural) start insulting our guests. Not mumbling snide remarks under their breath, but with raised voices, incendiary name calling and aggressive (if not slightly amusing) finger pointing gestures right in the middle of the dining area, surrounded by onlooking customers who had their dining experience clearly rattled by the whole spectacle. Absolutely surreal. In sum, I can only hope that this kitsch restaurant in the heart of charming old town Lyon has a rapid change in ownership as soon as possible and that the service staff quickly move on to a career more suited to their skill set, such as paving roads...
Read moreThe food is good, and I bet it’s a really good place for authentic cuisine, unfortunately on a tuesday night we received very mediocre service.
Long wait times to take our order, long wait times to receive our order. Our waitress outside was as also the barmaid inside, which is not ideal for fast service.
We asked for a salad first and 2 steaks, the steaks came before the salad, so we didn’t want the salad anymore. I wanted to cancel it, the 2nd waitress told me it was already made and couldn’t cancel it. The salad was not very good, the dressing too citrussy and the duck confit tasted like horse manure… literally.
We ordered wine from the 2nd waitress, she forgot to tell our main waitress. So we ended up canceling the wine.
I asked to please cancel the salad from our bill because it wasn’t good and it came after the steaks, in exchange, I would take 2 more glasses of wine and 2 desserts (they looked good), the waitress said she couldn’t cancel the salad as it was already consumed. (We barely touched it).
And so that was our experience.
We would’ve liked to stay for wine and desserts cause the wine was good and the desserts looked good but unfortunately the service kind of ruined it for us.
Medallion was excellent. Salad with duck confit was nasty, but, maybe it’s just not my thing. Tasted like...
Read moreDisappointing dinner for the money. With a set price meal you usually expect good value for popular dishes. Our starters appeared within minutes of ordering - must have been waiting in the fridge. The foie gras de canard was tasteless and probably a bought in product. Our mains were a small portion of a cheap cut of steak with frites. Most of the frites were hot. The steak was not hot and returned only to be brought back to the table having been put under the grill for a moment! The jus was tasty enough. The steak came sliced from the kitchen probably due to the fact that our knives would have failed. Desserts were ok but nothing special. There were only two staff serving and working hard and while we didn’t have a wait (quite the opposite) other customers did struggle to be served. For the same money we had an excellent dinner in one of the Bocuse restaurants- Le Sud - the night before. No comparison can be made between the two meals. Overall a poor occasion to put down...
